Xmas Gifts that I like!

Alex's girl friend had some artwork done of the Nomad... The artist
has a website showing the steps he did to do the work. His normal work is VW's and he admits that he had fun drawing this one up. To me - this type of gift is the best type - they aren't that expensive - but shows planning and thought about the "receiver". Alex got me a carbon fiber toilet seat... Not sure Gwen will like that - so it might be "shed art"...

NOT A TA 12-25-2009 09:55 PM

That came out really nice Greg!

GregWeld 12-25-2009 10:02 PM

Thanks John --- Yeah - - I was completely blown away that she would have gone to the "effort" and planning something like this takes... you can't just start a project like this on Xmas Eve - which is usually when I'm out shopping!! LOL

Vegas69 12-25-2009 11:00 PM

That's cool man. She's thoughtful or kissing some major ass here.

GregWeld 12-26-2009 08:02 AM

I didn't even have to bend over!!

awr68 12-26-2009 10:52 AM

Very cool Greg! She defiantly knows how much you like these things called 'The American Automobile'!!

She's a keeper!!

How about a shot of Alex's present....not in use of course!
He was very excited and told Jen about it during SEMA week and I've been dying to see it!

GregWeld 12-26-2009 02:25 PM

Okay -- Then I have to add my other favorite gift from my buddy John... I had mentioned once that I'd like to buy an old gas pump for the front of the shed - but that the only ones around are either beautifully restored - or complete crap! So he finds a guy that restores them --- and we do a little shop tour... Since my second ever job was at a Mobil gas station - I've always had a little affinity for that brand... and collect stuff from time to time... So the guy says -- well I have an old Mobil pump... and guess who has it now? This is JOHN just after we got her unloaded. I'm going to put it outside between the doors and put an air hose reel in the bottom...

Very cool drawing and old school Mobil pump!

GregWeld 12-26-2009 02:42 PM

Okay Anthony -- here's the 2 lb 6 oz REAL carbon fiber toilet seat.... Can't tell you how ridiculous I think this is - but it will be fun down in the shed!

:brix: :wow: .....

Tom

GregWeld 12-26-2009 05:12 PM

They said this seat would make you go faster.... Apparently it's working for TOM!!.......

GregWeld 12-26-2009 05:14 PM

BTW -- This seat (a standard) will not fit a single toilet in our house... so it's gotta go (pun intended) on the shop wall.

Nice gifts Greg! The car art is really cool, but so is the gas pump and seat. That pump will go perfect in front of the shed!

Yeah I was jazzed --- that stuff way beat the 6 shirts that my wife bought me - that were all just variations of the same thing but in different colors and manufacturers... 4 of them have been returned already!

My "friends" know what to get a dumbazzzz gearhead like me!!

The toilet seat is a COMPLETE waste (get it) but has an anti cell phone attachment... it looks like a lid or something... :wow:

DFRESH 12-28-2009 03:48 PM

Only you---

GregWeld 12-28-2009 04:19 PM

I know... Right!

Who shows up at your house with a gas pump.... NOBODY... but here comes John...

When I lived in NYC - we used to have a saying... "them that has... gets" and you know - it's kinda true. I would never go buy one of these for myself! Or a CF toilet seat either (had to make a mount for it today out in the shed)...
 Amazing.

nvr2fst 12-28-2009 09:46 PM

Greg you know better, the elongated seats for the house not the standard Dah Id take it back and replace all the toilets.

GregWeld 12-28-2009 09:52 PM

OMG!!

That is too funny!

So today I actually made a 'mount' for the seat and hung it out in the shed with my Rat Fink painted version...

waynieZ 12-29-2009 05:09 PM

I just found this thread, you got some nice gifts there. I love the art work!

ccracin 12-29-2009 06:09 PM

Great gifts Greg. I'm typing this message on one of mine. My Dad got me a new laptop. He said he needed me to be able to research stuff for the truck faster! I bought him tools. A set of aluminum AN wrenches, a set of fittings to pressure test AN hoses, and a Rigid 37deg. flaring tool for stainless tubing. It was a truck project themed Christmas. Oh and I got a new solar powered auto darkening welding helmet. Guess I should learn to weld! Gotta love this hobby.

GregWeld 12-29-2009 06:22 PM

Waynie --- YEAH! Crazy Xmas stuff! I usually get socks and handkerchiefs... and the Visa bill...

Chad -- Great gifts for you - and you gave out some nice ones too! I have that 37 Degree flaring tool - the one with the tapered rollers -- it's a spendy little dude... And BTW -- Rigid also makes a special SS tubing cutter... got that too - and it works 4 X's better than the standard versions... which I used to chip the wheels on all the time... If you're going to do much SS tubing - look for one.

:lateral:  :woot:

Now all we need are carbon fiber plumbing lines(drains) and the entire system will be ready for the superbowl party!

nvr2fst 12-29-2009 09:50 PM

I will post pictures as soon as I get them of the CF TP holder, towel ring and I believe a soap dish my Plumbing contractor has in his lodge. Ill ask him about the lines, I cant see why you wouldn't be able to paint Pex tube lines black.
I know I've seen a gear shift lever for the flush lever somewhere.
Greg, You need to get all this in by next Christmas. Ill contribute the Charmin.

GregWeld 12-29-2009 11:14 PM
