My 69 Camaro, "Project Stance"

I'm terrible about taking pictures and documenting progress, however I have vowed to begin doing it, thus here is my first "documented" update. Was able to put the ATS spindles and Baer brakes on this weekend. Have a few things to tie up to finish it off (align, clean up, etc) Rear suspension is next project, then rear brakes (as long as nothing else falls off before then).

Old versus new

ATS--these things are cool

Installed

Looking forward to some testing after alignment at my favorite track (El Toro High School Parking lot). Many thanks to Jon and Justin at Driverz for getting me setup with the brakes and all the help.

Doug

LOL---here's a good one---one of the motor cycle officers saw me mid-drift in a full four wheel slide at the same "track" last week---he stopped at the side of the road and held up his hands like---"Dude, seriously?"---I waved him over--he motioned to his radio and sped off---as did I as soon as he cleared my vision.

Vegas69 01-03-2010 08:04 PM

Lookin good man:thumbsup:

That is too funny! If that was me, I would have been impounded along with the car!

Looks killer Doug!

Chicken Louie 01-03-2010 09:03 PM

Hey Dave, what's the latest on your car and Barret Jackson?

Steve1968LS2 01-03-2010 09:26 PM

Very nice.. the same brakes I'm running. The best part is all of the pad choices on the market that fits them.

Kendall Burleson 01-03-2010 10:08 PM

Nice parts should stop great.

I gotta say Steve, it was one of the reasons for going with these brakes--ease of getting pads--and lots of options when choosing. When your pump went bad at the shootout, it was great that you could drive into town and just pick another one up---that left an impression on me--especially since this one is for driving to work--auto x and track days.

I have to say that I really agree with the Theory of Rupp! Use as many OE parts as possible!

As you mentioned Doug, Steve's water pump is a perfect example of why this is so important for a car that gets used!!

Agreed. All of the same reasons i am using the Z06 brakes and as many other stock parts as possible. I have learned a lot from watching all of these projects come together here as well as the finished ones getting dialed in and abused too. (Todd:lol: )

Looks good, what about some pics of the Drag Radial Car?

Denied their Sunday "Prime Time" offer.

I gain more respect for GM everyday. There is something to be said for the reliability and availability of GM parts. That's the beauty on an LSX motor, stock syle pumps, and corvette brakes. With that being said, every car has so many custom touches that it doesn't take much to end your day. After all I broke a stock GM power steering pump at Spring Mountain as well. In fact, it's the same type 2 pump Steve broke at the Optima Challenge. I know his was a turn one already that had seen better days. Not all stock parts are engineered to be pushed to the level some of us are looking for either. I've already made the bed I lay in and you won't see me running the one lap of america. At the end of the day, your only as good as the sum of your parts.

Actually, you are only as good as your weakest link/part.

At the end of the day there are still alot of us that still have a pile of parts! Looking very nice. You should really enjoy the improvements!

Rodger, don't have any recent ones with the new wheels, stance, etc--- Procharger still uses the car in their catalog--saw it at SEMA--here are the pics they use--I am due to begin working on the car again soon---trying to fund two cars is getting the best of me.

So true---it is tempting to go LS motor in this car for this and many other reasons---I bet in two years I can talk you into one lap ---you will have done everything else by then--LOL.

Very nice Doug. Not only does she look better, but she'll stop better.
VERY NICE!!

Thanks brother---it better---still has drums in the rear---Rick at Baer says that my stock master will work fine with these due to the fact that the piston size in the calipers is comparibly small (to the Extreme calipers for example) --volume wise it should work fine----I hope that is in fact the case.

Doug

GregWeld 01-04-2010 06:52 PM

Keep it up -- and I'll let you go somewhere with me!!

Looks great Doug!

You Guys are killing me.

GregWeld 01-05-2010 08:59 AM

Kendall....

You know how every so often you meet someone and there is just some magical bond... you can't explain it - but you both just know that you're on the same wave length or whatever it is... You talk for 15 minutes and you know you could spend the rest of the day doing "stuff" together and have fun?

If you got arrested - you'd call a "friend" to bail you out... Babs, on the other hand... would be sitting on the bench with you saying "OMG - wasn't that fun!!" "Babs" DNA is from the shallow end of the gene pool... and I'm right there with him.

Actually (looking around :_paranoid ), I think most of the guys on this site are down there at the shallow end with us.

And then there's Todd....

Vegas69 01-05-2010 10:14 AM

What are you saying, I never made it out of the kiddie pool?

GregWeld 01-05-2010 10:25 AM

I just couldn't toss you a rope buddy.... 'cause I knew you'd use it to pull me in!

ccracin 01-05-2010 11:35 AM

I just don't understand
