1968 Pro Touring Procharged Camaro "Vertigo" for sale

It was with much sadness that I post this car for sale after a 3+ year journey with lots of ups and downs along the way.

What started as a simple driver Camaro build evolved into a full pro touring tire shredder with up to 800 crank horsepower on tap. I was always one to say I just wanted the car to be done so I could enjoy it, but I actually did enjoy the roller coaster ride of the build and the many friends I made along the way.

Business issues force this sale. We actually had record sales in 09 but when 2 of your largest clients cannot pay you this is what happens. I vow to be back in a bad ass muscle car sooner rather than later.

The car has less than 300 miles on the odometer since the build was completed, and most of that was the weekend trip from Sacramento to Pleasanton for the Goodguys Autumn Get Together, where this car won Cool Camaro award in a sea of Camaros. I was pretty proud of that award.

The motor is currently being refreshed with new pistons, rings, bearings, and gaskets and will be installed back in the car in the following couple weeks. Car is at Gearhead Garage in Sacramento and can be viewed during business hours there. Jason can answer pretty much every question you have there, and if not, ask me. Most answers can be found on my website or viewing the parts list below.

If no bites here, it will be going to ebay shortly. Lots of stalled projects for sale right now I know. This is a turnkey car with all parts brand new or having a couple hundred miles. Come buy it and drive it away.

Asking $62,000. Like most of these builds, you know there is a helluva lot more invested in this car than that price.

I wish you well in the sale Dave.

With its great stance this first pic reminds me of a Trans-Am car.

I'm afraid so. :(

awr68 01-11-2010 05:24 PM

Wait, I thought we were suppose to drive our cars together down the west coast! :(

I know you don't want to sell.....best of luck buddy! And you are correct! You can't build one like that for the asking price!!

70rs 01-11-2010 06:32 PM

Great price on a great car. Sorry you have to let it go. But at least you got to put a few miles on it and enjoy the build right through the end and see it finished. Not too many guys get that chance when things go south.

Best of luck with the sale Dave.

Spiffav8 01-11-2010 08:32 PM

I am going to walk around kicking stuff and swearing all day on your behalf. I was super bummed when I had to sell my car, but for some reason I'm pissed off that you are selling yours.

eqt555 01-11-2010 08:40 PM

Dude,
I cant believe youre selling your car. Actually, youre puking your car at that price. Im just at the end of my build, and Ive been pratically bled dry and my wife hates me. I can only pray for luck that nothing catastrophic happens to my family or to anyone else in this sport, the pain is too great after so much time and effort to see a project through to the end. There is one reason and one reason only that I have my particular shifter in my car, and thats because I saw it in your car. I cant even imagine how bad this has to hurt, and I hope the money you get goes a long way. I hope it makes you succesful enough to help you come back to this sport soon, pal!

DFRESH 01-11-2010 10:31 PM

Can't tell you how bad this sucks----So, we probably won't be seeing you in June then--we were all looking forward to that---nonetheless, good luck with the sale bro--

Doug

Thanks you guys. As much as it sucks to have to put this up for sale, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy to read the supportive comments and best wishes on here because I know they are very sincere.

This will absolutely not be my final muscle car. That I can assure.

I am subscribing to the school of thought that everything happens for a reason. We'll see how it all turns out. :)

Thanks again guys. I was really looking forward to meeting up with many of you on a cruise thrash session. Hopefully that day may still come.

Well said Dave.

Sounds like you also could write a book helping others with what you've been through...

Yes Dave. I am in that same boat, (laid off since last March!). Everything happens for a reason. Keep your head up and the next one will be bigger and badder!!
Good luck buddy!

Dang, sorry to hear, Dave. As was said earlier, at least you got your project across the finish line and got some seat time with it. You did a great job with the car and the next one(s) will only be better. Best of luck to you and I know things will begin looking up soon. You take care of the important stuff and the rest will fall into place. -Rob

I will pass the word around this is for sale if I come across anyone looking for a bad a$$ car:thumbsup: .

It's hard enough for a business to say it did good because most can't but then to know the numbers did look good but A/R doesn't close out just plain sucks:( . Not sure what line of work you are into but I wish you the best and if this step back helps keep you going the right direction you will find yourself back sooner than later. I give you credit for being able to come to terms with this, it's hard.

Thanks Nick. I think better times are head. Just might take a little bit of time.

Yes he is bay area, but he doesn't spend much time on the forums. He said his friend does and has been followed it, but i don't know who it is.

DFRESH 01-31-2010 08:48 PM

Hey Dave, ran into Jason this weekend at the roadster show---no wonder he ended up with your car--the guy is straight up, friendly, and knows what he is talking about. Must have been a great guy to do business with. Sounded like the sale was still moving forward--wish you the best of luck as always bro.

Thanks Doug. It's bittersweet for sure. I really wanna get back in the game soon. I am confident I will be. Jason and the crew have been great to deal with. I hope to do more business with them in the near future. :)

And thanks for the well wishes. They do mean a lot to me.
