Camaro chick from Iowa

Hello everyone! I'm new on this site and wanted to introduce myself.

I've been a car chick since I was 12 and would read every car magazine I could get my hands on: Motor Trend, Car & Driver, Hot Rod, etc.

Recently purchased a '69 Camaro 454 4-speed (my dream car). I've only wanted one since I was 12! I'm hoping all this snow melts soon cause I'd like to burn a little rubber!

Car salesmen piss me off when they assume I want an automatic. One time I went to test drive a manual and the salesman didn't believe I could drive a stick. After getting the car out on the highway he said "I guess you can drive a stick." No sh*t!

Well, that's a little about me!

Sunkistcamaro 01-12-2010 07:28 PM

Welcome to the site!
Post up some pics of your camaro when you get a chance.

Welcome, Beth. Where about in IA are you located?

70rs 01-12-2010 07:48 PM

Welcome! Nice car too!! Your mom taught you to drive the manual tranny right? I'm glad you introduced yourself.
Any time you want to post up more shots of your car have at it!

Sunkistcamaro 01-12-2010 07:55 PM

Wow nice ride!!
From your engine shot it looks like it has some mod's.
Do you know what was done to it?

Yes, they are. Mine didn't teach me to drive (that was left to a pretty crazy uncle) but she did teach me a lot of valuable stuff for life.

Spiffav8 01-13-2010 08:12 AM

Welcome Beth. Sounds like you'll fit in well with the rest of the crazies here. :unibrow:

GregWeld 01-13-2010 09:25 AM

Welcome Beth!

Have you met TODD yet? Another Iowan with a black 69 Camaro big block...

My daughter is similar - she wants a shifter car... and more power!

Bow Tie 67 01-13-2010 10:04 AM

More pics of the exterior. In the sun, the blue is lighter/brighter and looks metallic.

I LOVE the cobalt blue color! Blue is my favorite color!

70rs 01-13-2010 07:15 PM

^^^very nice looking car. Not "overdone", the color looks great on there.

Yep, got a few. Pretty much just cosmetic for now...Plan on painting the engine block and heads (the gray color that's on the tail pan and around the grill perhaps?), possibly painting the calipers, adding a closeout panel and fender supports, some interior changes (new seats, vintage air, new set of pedals, new shifter knob). Maybe one day minitubbing it. I love a wide rear!! (on my cars!) Also maybe new rims cause my hubby wants to take mine and put them on his '64 impala.

Let me know thoughts on what color to paint the engine block and heads. To me the orange just doesn't look right with the blue.

Welcome to the site, Beth....oh, and get that car out of the snow :wow: !! lol

p.s., you can't go wrong with painting the engine block black.

The car didn't leave the parking lot...it went right back inside! Just had to see it in the sun! Been thinking about trailering it south just so we can drive it! Can't wait for spring!!!

Midwest Performance 01-14-2010 10:09 AM

Nice to see another Iowan!

Love the blue. I was wanting my car blue once apon a time. It ended up red and will probably stay red. Check out my car it should be one of the nicer 69 in Iowa when done.

maybe I'll run into your car at a show this summer. Where did you say you were from in Iowa.

you have a great ride.

Kevin

ragtop69 01-14-2010 11:19 AM

It is a beautiful color! I would think so since my 69 rs/ss convert is the exact color with bright white deck stripes! Welcome to the site.:D

Thanks! I definitely plan on going to some car shows. I live in the NW corner of the state. Half hour to the SD border, half hour to the MN border.

I'm from Sioux Falls btw, so not too far from you. You should bring your Camaro to the Zkota cruise some sat. nite., always a lot of cars there.
Hope to see ya there:yes:

Not far at all. Lived in Harrisburg for 4 years before moving back to IA about 2 years ago. We definitely plan on taking the Camaro to SF so we might see you at Zkota!

slenning 01-14-2010 03:35 PM

Great!! I look forward to checking out your Camaro and meeting you and your "passenger". Sorry Ed:lol:

Rybar 01-14-2010 04:05 PM

Welcome that is a nice Camaro you picked up.

I'd paint the block to match the tail panel.

Do you know what was done to it?

Here's what we know on the engine mods: new cam, ceramic coated headers, aluminum intake, Edelbrock carb, Milodon large volume oil pan, aluminum radiator and electric fan.

Front has an updated subframe with coil over shocks. Rear has a 4-link with standard shocks and we're looking into putting coil overs on it to lower the ride height a little.
