How about a guess at what "Reactor" brings today on Barrett.....
Im going to guess 185k...
I would love to see it go 400+... but stuff seems super low this time around. |
225 ish
|
145k.
|
What time is it?
My guess is 165k.. |
155k:_paranoid
at 140k now on stage SOLD at 145k plus fees. Seems low to me.... |
I would hope 200+, but its twin is going across about now. Copperback is lot 1260 I think, might make a difference.

still... that seems awful low. |

Reactor is lot 1287.
I hope it brings more than Copperback. I've seen Reactor in person but not Copperback. From pictures it looks like they stepped it up a couple notches with Reactor IMO. Plus the owners live near me and I'd like to see them continue to build these kind of vehicles. They also had a 37 Ford (lot 1252) that went accross earlier... |

At what things are going for right now, I say 220k. But the money's been going way up the last hour.
|
lol.... Watching online I see right after I posted that it's at 230k. And that's what it sold for.

Hell of a lot of car. Seems like a good number. Tom |
Not bad , but I bet they had 350 plus in the car. Someone's got a bad ride for a good price.
|
I would be feeling sick! It sold for $230 with commish he is down to $211 and then a couple thousand for transportation and registering then spending a week in Scottsdale. I am sure there is $350 or so in this car, a $140 or 50 thousand dollar lost to me would really ruin your night. I know Doug has tried to sell it outside of Barrett, so I guess this is the only place he was able to get that kind of money. Someone got a great car for a good price!

Keep in mind that Reactor was built years ago and has already sucked up the spotlight. If it was fresh and unshown it might have brought in more $$$$. This is a hobby, not a 401k deal. lol |
Exactly, drive them like you stole them because the fact is you will lose money 9 out of 10 times.
|
Steve -- That's it right on the head - it's a HOBBY -- you build a car - and maybe you get half what you put in -- not TWICE.... Welcome to coming back to NORMAL. Cars aren't DOWN - they're just being sold for what they're really worth.
BTW -- the LAKESIDE car was a car called TIMELESS and it's a 35 FORD (not a 37) ... and an absolutely wonderful one at that! |
To me this is a hobby and I have lost my fair share of money on cars thru the years. Would I have done it any other way probably not.
I love cars always have always will. If someone can afford to put $350K into building a car then they can probably also afford loosing $150-200K when they sell it. If someone thinks that just because they get their car on the auction rooster at BJ that they should make money I think they need to think again. Tonny |

Nope -- the people that spend REAL money on these cars are the ones that understand that it's a hobby. It's everyone ELSE that thinks they're somehow an investment.

I'm down here running up your "investment"!! LOL I'm at Barrett Jackson -- but am now home (well back at my home here) not "home"... watching the auction on TV. Waiting to see what my old heep goes for and then I'm "car'd out" for the weekend. :wow: |

Glad you are having a good time, get in touch when you're back in town. |
Lot 1351 -- 67 400hp Rally Red Vette -- One of 117 like it -- and possibly one of 20 with it's option combo... all owner history - build sheet - every title etc. Multi time NCRS Top Flight car.. and RESTORED to perfection.:woot:
Might not make TV -- they seem to be really SLOW on the numbers... and I think TV is only going till 10?? |
The 35 Ford (Timeless) went really cheap. That is a baddass car for only $130K.
Greg said it right, normal cars are bringing proper money. What surprises me the most ids the Corvette adjustment seems brutal, worse then the Mopar adjustment last year. Big Block Mid Year Vettes were in the $60K to $80K range, WAY down! |

Everybody is keeping their powder dry to buy my old one...
 |
Frank =
THERE ARE 120 CORVETTES here for sale --- some killer --- some (most) just "okay" cars - and several "hot rodded versions".... WAY too many Corvettes for one auction... |

Was if fun Greg? I bet it's pretty neat in person at those auctions---maybe only your first time it's that way---talk soon GW

The guys who spend the money like Doug does has alot more to burn than most. I think 230 is fair price and thank god for guys like Doug who build cars like these, it raises the bar and price of alot of cars we drive and build! |

You hit the nail on the head Greg with your assessment of build cost vs reality... It was great to "hang" with you yesterday:thumbsup: |
I worked on both cars for Doug, the 35 coupe is just pure badass,Lakeside rods built the car we did the inside,We also did the Mustang,Sometimes people have to remember that this is what happens with these cars,In order to build new ones, you have to sell the ones in the way for the next one.I thought he did well on the money for todays market.Somebody got some nice rides
|
Got 253k includes 10%
|
Somebody refresh my memory, how much did Johnsons' million dollar 'Cuda go for a couple of years ago.I believe that wasn't a sponge bath but a drowning!!! You gotta know what your in for!!

It's still one of the, if not the highest selling custom cars to be sold at BJ. |
If i remember right, Reactor was at Russo Steele 2 years ago and had a high bid of 300K. I didn"t meet reserve of 350k. Alot has changed in the last couple of years and I think he got some good coin for a car that has already been exposed everywhere. Personally I think Copperback was the better purchase for the money, but I'm partial to the color!
|
The only people making money on hot rods this weekend are the pimps at barrett-jackson. oh ya speed is too. three cars then they go to a com.
