My best friend made it into the Collier private car collection over the weekend. Best collection of rare Porsche racing cars outside of the factory.

It was a fully catered black tie affair!

Good to know it is back in the family

elitecustombody 01-27-2010 11:21 AM

Glad to see it surface up after it was sold at BJ almost 2 years ago.

Has to be my favorite custom built Cuda in existence

The guy that bought it at BJ TWO YEARS ago only put about 30 miles on it in that time.

The new owner will put on considerably more I'm sure.. lol

So the old dude in Florida sold it?

That Cuda is amazing!

Neil B 01-27-2010 02:15 PM

Don kept the 'Cuda in a restored firehouse about a half-mile from my house. I never once saw the car on road.

customcam 01-27-2010 05:33 PM

Really? Did Doug by the Cuda?

Did he steal it? Maybe it was one of those, you break it you bought it kind of things?

J/K I have less than no information on this topic, but I couldn't resist the urge to post.

It's complicated... Let's just say he's a very lucky man and married well...

One of the rat pack?

clill 01-28-2010 09:58 AM

OK...Here it is in a nutshell...Bob Johnson had Alan Johnson build him the Cuda. Bob sold it at Barrett-Jackson a couple years ago. Doug Cooper happens to be Bob's friend and last years winner of the Riddler award with his 32 Ford B400 "Duecenberg" also built by Alan Johnson had his 50th birthday a few days ago. At big car events you will likely see Doug ,Bob and Alan together. They are joined at the hip. Doug's wife surprises Doug by stealing the phone # off his desk of the guy that bought Bob's Cuda at Barrett-Jackson and manages to buy it and surprises him with it for his 50th birthday without him or Alan or Bob knowing anything about it. She has managed to piss of Wives nationwide...

Now that is pretty cool........................

Wow...Wonder if Doug's wife has a sister that's single?

wiedemab 01-28-2010 10:53 AM

OK, I was right - extreme jealousy was the correct emotion!

Congrat to Mrs. Doug Cooper for pulling that one off. That is amazing!

I'm going to make my wife read this thread!!!!

LOL I am not sure if my wife read this post it would really matter.

Pretty cool the car is back in the family.

Al Moreno 01-28-2010 02:52 PM

That's great to hear.

WSSix 01-28-2010 03:55 PM

I'm glad to hear Doug has the car now too. What a great story. Doug will drive it. That car needs to be seen not tucked away somewhere for no one else to admire. I bet when it gets brought out this spring/summer there will be people who have no idea it's a few years old now.

6spdcamaro 01-28-2010 04:19 PM

I hope he'll take it to oyster bay and i'll get to see it in person :unibrow:

He's got a keeper wife that's for sure

I had no expectations that it would make much difference - my wife just rolls here eyes at me, lovingly of course.

I agree, that it it very cool that this car is "back in the family". All joking aside with my jealously comments, I don't really know Doug at all, but I can honestly say that I'm happy and excited for him.
