HISTORY:
Purchased in 2000 and essentially the 2nd owner at 47,000 original miles. As a forever work-in-progress and home, design/build it now has an odometer close to zero. With a fiberglass front end, it currently weighs 2750 lbs. with a weight distribution of 54/46. ENGINE: * 293 cu in, blueprinted and studded block * built using hipo rotating assembly * forged lightweight pistons * solid flat tappet cam assembly with billet double roller timing set * 1.90"/1.60" aluminum heads, port matched w/ roller rockers * MDS distributor and 6AL box * 1-5/8"x3" full length headers w/ O2 sensors TRANS: C-4 built with red alto frictions, Kolene steels, 6 gear planetary and reverse manual valve body. 2200 stall converter. REAREND: 9 inch housing with 4.11 open center section. I fabricated it to facilitate transition to a planned 3-link design FRONT SUSPENSION: * I engineered and fabricated to be fully adjustable with rod ends and tubular upper and lower control arms. * Avco 2-way adjustable coil-overs with 325 lb springs. * 1-1/8" sway bar REAR SUSPENSION: * Currently standard 3-leaf lowered 1", with clamp-on leaf pads to accomodate pinion angle and transition to 3-link. * KYB gas shocks and clamp-on slapper bars. BRAKES: * Wildwood 11-3/4" disc in fronts and standard drum rears * Small piston aluminum master cylinder with line-lock. * Proportioning control in driver's compartment http://media.motortopia.com/files/ca...Thumbnail1.jpg http://media.motortopia.com/files/ca...Thumbnail1.jpg http://media.motortopia.com/files/ca...Thumbnail1.jpg http://media.motortopia.com/files/ca...Thumbnail1.jpg http://media.motortopia.com/files/ca...Thumbnail1.jpg http://media.motortopia.com/files/ca...Thumbnail1.jpg http://media.motortopia.com/files/ca...Thumbnail1.jpg http://media.motortopia.com/files/ca...Thumbnail1.jpg http://media.motortopia.com/files/ca...Thumbnail1.jpg http://media.motortopia.com/files/ca...Thumbnail1.jpg |

Nice Bird!
I've always liked "the poor man's mustang" because it is kind of the underdog. I had been watching a cherry little 62 (or 63?) hardtop near me for a long time. It went up for sale for $3,500 and I did not have the space because of my '55. I had to make a choice, so I kept the Chevy. (Not enough room for wife, three daughters, AND TWO PROJECTS. Kids are hard to sell! Wifes cost too much to get rid of, I've heard. )
I also used to know a guy who made a hard-core vintage racer '65 Falcon and it was beautiful. I REALLY like your car! Keep us posted. |
love the build so far keep the out of the box thinking and keep up the creative ideas flowing.can't get enough of the be diffrent attitude.:D

The car looks great, nice work.

Where do you live? From the looks of one of those pics I would say you live right down the way from me. Merritt Island Fl? Bad build bro
|
I like the way you fit the Mustang fiberglass front apron to your Falcon.

Hi
I must ask one question and please dont think im picking at the car ..I like the car and what youve done.thanks for posting the pics .. Im wondering if you are gonna build an aluminum ? filler to go between the lower grille and the top of the bumper to fill that space in and kinda connect the bumper/grill area....Looks like your very creative and i was wondering. Tom |
I havent decided what to do there yet. The valance is as high as it can go to line up with the body line on the fenders. But I want to do something with that gap. I will see what it all looks like once I get my intercooler in the valance opening.

Thanks . . i see what your saying about the line. Thats the fun part "customizing"...I would take some light gauge aluminum and bend it and tape it up there on the backside and break out the lawn chair and just look at the front of the car....but thats me Keep up the good work and im interested to see what you do.. Don't forget the beer, when you can see your lawn you have to have a beer, even if it's non alcoholic. Otherwise how do you get to the point that you only care about what you think instead of everyone else  I can't wait to see my lawn. |
there used to be one of these raced in the UK,
http://www.touringcartimes.com/news/other09082901-a.jpg http://www.classictouringcars.com/im...P25021_jpg.jpg and a good friend of mine raced a 1L http://www.bmsad.co.uk/admin/CMS/HTMLImages/S023-0.jpg in the same circuit race series, he said he could hear the falcon coming on the straights  |

As for the gap - make a nice filer piece that you can ad to the front end but make it removeable. The other thing I would consider is some sort of mesh behind the front bumper opening ( which looks awesome BTW ). Keep us posted with the update and thank you for posting the pics. |

I think the bumper opening will be perfect for an intercooler. |

YEP:)
going with the small procharger C2, it will be perfect match for my small 289 at 8.5:1 compression ratio. |
Im painting my subframes connectors tonight with some self etching weld through primer.
I will be bolting them in while I plan the rest of the car around them. My front drive shaft loop and rear third link crossmember will be tying into them. But I will need to take them in and out a few time before I can final weld them to the car. The weld through primer will ensure that the back side of the SFCs will be protected. |
I painted the subframe connectors and got the blinkers all wired up and the horn mounted and wired.

I got one SFC installed late thursday night. Damn rain in san diego ruined my weekend. The big 3 swap meet was rained out saturday but I went for a hlf day on friday and didnt find anything to buy.

Long time since any updates. I bought a house, so I have been busy with that no time to work on the car.
Here are some garage pics of my new place! http://media.motortopia.com/files/21...l_IMG_1164.jpg http://media.motortopia.com/files/21...l_IMG_1173.jpg http://media.motortopia.com/files/21...l_IMG_1171.jpg http://media.motortopia.com/files/21...l_IMG_1166.jpg |
I keep changing my mind on wheels. Here is what I am currently thinking.
http://www.tswalloywheels.com/alloy_...urburgring.php Its a TSW wheel. http://www.tiresdirect.net/TOYO_Prox...7_91_P5093.cfm Also I found this seller for R888s at really good prices. I would like to have this combo. 245s on the front http://www.tiresdirect.net/TOYO_Prox..._P4744C789.cfm http://www.tiresdirect.net/TOYO_Prox..._P5094C789.cfm And one of those on the rear. Obviously after I do my minitub and 3-link. |
Here are some updated pics. I got my new tires. Big thanks to Drivers Inc. they got me a great price. The fronts are falken azenis 245/45/17.
