PROJECT: “Not at the table Carlos”
-The Story-
I’ve owned this car for 10yrs and when first restorored it was back to the original state. My car stayed like this up until last year when I decided to make my car a little more fun to drive. At first I was really nervous about updating my car since it’s a numbers matching but decided it was time to jumped in and get it done. This was deffenatly the best decision I’ve made, My car handles better than ever. 1969, Chevy, Camaro RS Project “Not at the table Carlos!” 409 hp / 457 tq Engine Type = Chevy Small block Block = 400 Oiling = 7-quart pan with oil cooler Rotating assembly = Eagle rotating assembly Cylinder heads = Edelbrock Permormer RPM Camshaft = Edelbrock performer cam, Duration 308/318, Lift .488/.510 Valvetrain = Stainless roller Induction = Edelbrock RPM, Holly 750 converted to E85 Ignition = Edelbrock RPM Cooling = Aluminum high volume radiator Fuel system = Carter high volume Exhaust = Flowmaster with series 40 Fasteners = ARP Drivetrain Transmission/shifter = 350 Trans with stock horseshoe Driveshaft = Stock drive shaft Rear axle = GM 10 bolt posi, 3:90 gears, Moser 28 spline Chassis Front suspension = Hotchkis TVS Rear suspension = Hotckis TVS Brakes = Wilwood Interior Seats = Corbeau TRS with Crow restraints Dashboard = Stock Stereo = don’t need one Wiring = Stock Replacement Column = Stock with quick ratio box Body/paint Body = All Steel Paint = Dupont single stage Wheels/tires Wheels = Rushforth Night trains Tires = Front 245/40/18 – Rear 275/35/18 with Nitto NTO5’s http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/4363/dscn0244r.jpg http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/2668/1022937.jpg http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/3542/dscn0391y.jpg http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/3526/dscn0392u.jpg http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/6940/dscn0394.jpg check back for more updates. |
Ahhh i was wondering what car those black night trains from driverz were going on. They look so evil. I love it
|
Awesome Camaro. Great that you're going to get out and drive it, especially with those mods. Those Rushforth wheels look badaz.
|
wow that will look great; the black wheels complementing the black bumblebee stripe, with yellow contrast. awesome
|
Whatever happened to your other project?
|
Be careful with E85, nobody around here runs it so the gas is old and bad. Some lady messed up her truck running it.
|
Very nice. Should be a sweet build.
Those Rushforth's are KILLER!!!:wow: |
Just realized where your project name was from and bout peed my pants!! Well done!! And good lookin wheels!
|

Okay I spent the evening wrapping my headers and with this being my first time I must say it kind of sucks!! We ran out of wrap and I see summit is no longer offering it. I hope the stuff I ordered matches.

Best. Name. Ever.
Cool to see you're working on another '69 Craig. Can't wait to see how the other one comes out! |
Looks like you did a pretty damn good job for the first time. Did you soak the wrap in a bucket of water and wrap it wet?

Great looking RS and nice projects. Keep the pics/updates coming! |

Hey Kris, Yes i'm working on another camaro. The thing is I had to. Either a blown head gasket or busted ring. Either way there's oil on my spark plugs. I need something to drive when it gets warm out you know. :unibrow: |

Thanks Jeff I took your advice and soaked the wrap before I put them on. Not perfect but good enough. I must say that stuff sucks!! It’s not bad to put on just all the airborne fibers. Hey don't forget me! I want to see the other Camaro done too:thumbsup: |

Well I had to take a little break due to the cold weather. So a few cold beers and a couple good friends, oh I can’t forget the arrival of new parts, I decided it was time to bust some knuckles on my project.
The Nitto NTO5's mounted and ready for action. http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/8919/dscn0399u.jpg Don't worry I'll try to hide all the wires :unibrow: http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/8435/dscn0409w.jpg Next on the list is rear brakes, pluming brake lines, Hotchkis handle bars and dropping in the new engine. |
I snapped a pix of the new Rushforth rims on my car. I can’t wait to get this project back on the ground to see where the ride height turns out. :unibrow:

Very nice Craig. Should look killer at ride height!!!

The combo looks great

Just a small update;)
http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/6333/dscn0422k.jpg http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/6241/dscn0423n.jpg New axles should be here tomorrow so I can get the back of the car finished. I did receive some good news the other day! “Not at the table Carlos!” will be displayed in the Optima Battery booth at the Mid-Western Nationals in Kansas City September 3-5. You can also check out the Street Challenge Autocross as I’ll be beating the living crap out of it. Oh and I’ll be taking bets on how long the rear end will last. |
Getting closer! I took Wednesday off and got a lot of stuff done. The new axles, brakes and AGR steering box are on.
I tried mounting my Hotchkis chassis max handle bars only to find that they don’t even come close to fitting with stock upper control arms so I guess I need to spend another 500 bucks on control arms. http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/1989/dscn0698c.jpg http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/9104/dscn0700f.jpg http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/7369/dscn0708t.jpg |
Nice progresss.
|
Looking good Craig. Keep us posted.
Can't wait to see it on the ground. |
I decided to mess around and make a bracket for my proportioning valve. This is just a prototype so it’s kind of rough looking but not bad for hand made IMO.

Engine is ready!
The engine is finally ready to drop in.

Another good night!
|
Okay I’ve got a Wilwood question. I would like to know the best way to hookup my rear brakes. What I’ve got is a 1/4” line coming from back and I’m trying to hook it into the Wilwood proportioning valve that’s a 3/16” line. Any input would be helpful.

Looking good Craig!

So this is the piece of safety wire I pulled out of my finger today. If you look close you can see some red stuff. It felt kind of wired being wired to my car and not being able to get away. I’m glad I didn’t freak out. ..WAIT I DID! LOL
http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/3964/dscn0738z.jpg http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/2741/dscn0737u.jpg |
So once I got that piece of wire out of my hand I managed to finish up safety wiring my headers and bolting on some other engine components.

Nice update it looks great.
|
Well another small update. Moving along slowly but hey with having to run kids everywhere it’s not too bad.
Speed Tech control arms in place. http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/8041/dscn0760f.jpg Exhaust all painted I just need to modify rear hangers so they fit. http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/1808/dscn0756w.jpg I got the support bars on but won't work with DSE hood hinges. I think what i might do is remove shocks off hinges and just run hoodpins but we'll see. http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/4277/dscn0758.jpg and a teaser shot of the car on stands. http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/320/dscn0755d.jpg http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/6932/dscn0746.jpg The plan is to finish mounting radiator and finish the pluming this week and firing this thing up next week….I hope! I’ll have post video of the initial start up but won’t bore you to death with cam break in..lol |
Very nice Craig.
Is it getting close to finish? |
