Who has got the best scar?????

Thought for a laugh i would start a new thread for all of us out there who have done something stupid and ended up with a big injury.
Short story of what happened and a pic/xray etc. of the injury.

Ill get us started......

Last year in Thailand on a boys trip I dove into a swimming pool with my hands by my sides showing off. Problem was the pool was only 1m deep and this was the result.
17 stitches and 2 broken vertebrae.
All good now!!!!

Damn! :wow: That's gonna leave a mark...

OUCH!!!!! That'll make you see stars.:_paranoid
I have a scar on my left inner elbow. I fell off a fence when I was younger, so of like tight rope walking. The fence was installed upside down so, the bottom part of the fence with the barbs was the part I was walking on.
Well, I lost my balance and fell off. I looked at my arm really quick, didn't see anything or feel anything. I did a double take and looked at it again, and HOLY CRAP!!!:wow: :willy: I had a gash about an inch or more wide. Could see my flesh, clear as day, all white. Bleeding pretty bad after that. Get rushed to the hospital in an ambulance and sitting in the emergency room, I had to wait for the surgeon to finish up an emergency surgery on someone before he could stitch me up. (The regular ER doctor could not do it after he looked at it.)
Ended up with 20 stitches outside and 8 stitches inside. I will post a pic when I take one.

flat350 02-23-2010 09:31 AM

I've had 3 concussions,6 broken ribs,over 250 stiches,1 hernia surgery,5 fractures in the right wrist,shot in the back with a shotgun(true accident),too many cuts/scapes/bruises to count.No pictures but I still have never spent a night in a hospital( ex hydroplane/motocross/enduro/flattrack racer ).

Those really deep and clean cuts a weird how initially you hardly feel it!!!
I was hoping this post would generate some interest, or at least make someone stomach turn!!!!!

I think you should focus on building that car, surely you would be safer doing that!!!!! Rap yourself in bubble rap and no powertools!!!
250 stitches that is insane, but the shot in the back, thats ridiculous!!

I can't compare to some of those stitch counts because I'm probably under 100 total for all my injuries

Stitches and Scars

I had one eyelid 90% ripped off, one nostril got separated from my face, bottom lip about 25% taken off, (all different incedents and no really noticable scars), almost lopped off same index finger twice (scars all the way around that one), bottom of foot was completely ripped open once, and another time on a whitewater rafting trip I had a root go through the bottom of my foot and come out the back of my heel (wasn't fun pulling my foot back off of that, but I still went rafting before driving home 6 hours to the hospital the next day), and various small scar from some minor day surgeries.

Breaks

broken collar bone (still finished playing the football game after that one. I just couldn't catch the ball anymore after that. I could only take handoffs), around a half dozen various ribs (really sucks when they keep hitting your diaphram and sending it into spasms), broken forearm, busted wrist, shattered right hand, broken left hand, fractured shin, fractured ankle, broken foot, and too many broken fingers to count (not too good at making fists anymore)

I think I got them all. Besides that stuff, just the normal twists, sprains, and tears. still debating on cancelling my July surgery to fix my 4 year old torn rotator cuff and remove bone spurs

If you ain't been broken, you ain't been livin!!:beavis:

I have had a total of 4 shoulder repairs done now. The latest being Jan 5th of this year on my left side. Torn Labrum (sp?). Bone spur and some bicep tendon issues. I JUST tore out the repair less than two weeks ago and have no idea exactly how I did it.
My point is that if you have it done be VERY careful afterward. My right shoulder has been done 3 times (last was Oct of '08) I have torn the repairs out of that on as well. I see the surgeon tomorrow again to discuss my next trip to his table.:faint:

xpsled 02-23-2010 07:32 PM

I had no idea there were so many messed up people out there, I thought I was lucky to get away with my injuries but you guys are insane!!! Surely some one has got some nasty photos!! Come on!!!

I've heard one good story about shoulders, and tons of not so good ones. Right now I suffer everyday, but at least I'm used to it. If I get it done, I just want to plan it perfectly so I can have a happy medium and don't have to worry about not being able to shovel winter's snow, or losing most of my summer playing with my cars. gonna be tough one

deuce_454 02-24-2010 01:35 AM

this one almost cost me my career... cut 4 tendons, 4 nerves to my fingers, one muscle and one artery, in my dominant hand!.. 4.5 hours of surgery and over 200 stitches, the surgeon did a bang up job.. and saved my careerplans in surgery...

classic hand vs beerglass injury

the zig zag scras is where they opened up to pull the tendons together

1st Scar!

I've been told that my "1st Scar" looks pretty good... I've also been told it was a pretty traumatic experience... but I was a newborn at the time so luckily I don't remember any of it!

tones2SS 02-24-2010 09:41 AM

WOW!! And I thought mine was "traumatic".:_paranoid
HOLY COW!!!:wow:

FreddieCougar 02-24-2010 12:02 PM

I don't think I can "win" this contest if Kenny D is involved, but I can blow most people away with volume...I have had 6 knee operations, 2 operations on my right wrist, one on my nose, one on my right shoulder, one on the back of my hand (dislocated a finger so far back in my hand they couldn't pull it out, they had to open it up) my gall bladder out, and I am currently trying NOT to have hernia surgery....plus more stitches than I can count, broken nearly all my fingers, multiple ribs, and currently have an untreated avulsion fracture of my right thumb....my nickname has been "Crash" since I was about 7 and broke my arm at school. I actually managed to get hurt WATCHING darts....it's way past stupid, and well into comical.
Tim

Ummgawa 02-25-2010 08:26 AM

I got runt over by a Jeep wilst riding back from a workout 20 years ago. Total non union compound fracture of the left Tib/Fib. Very Ugly. Looks like the surgery was preformed by Ray Charles, however. It was a save it or cut it off proposition. Two years in the Hospital and I still can predict the weather better than the best Metorologist in the South.

I'd post a picture, but I'd win hands down.

xpsled 02-25-2010 05:41 PM

Jim two years thats terrible!!!! I hope you had some good looking nurses!!!!

fastback 02-25-2010 06:15 PM

Shot four times, set on fire and pushed out of a third story window...not all at the same time. Sorry, the only pics are in the case files...

If there aren't any photos, it didn't happen! Prove it!

Take a box that would hold five pounds of duce, shove twelve pounds into that same box and you have the best looking nurse in the place. Some really ugly nurses. You'd have thought they'd have good personalities.

Nope.

GregWeld 02-25-2010 09:09 PM

I thought long and hard about posting up this pic.... So hope you all have some strong stomachs (get it?).... There's more on the inside... and this was almost a month in the hospital... from a simple surgery - to this....

Eric:

I feel for you. I've had several on my right shoulder to. Last one was a several rotator cuff. OMG did it hurt and take forever to heal.

I wish you good luck healing.

Take Care,

Ty

tyoneal 02-26-2010 02:01 AM

Getting beat up sucks, and healing is just about as bad.

I've had a Shoulder Reconstruction, 2 shoulder replacements, a severed Rotator cuff (At least you know where my extra achilles tendon is):unibrow:
A reconstructed Knee, 2 layer back fusion, a discectomy, another fusion, and apendectomy, I go in tomorrow for a milagram on my lower back, bit through my tougue, split the bridge of my nose open, managed to almost lose a toes when a glass table broke. (Hunk of glass came down on it) Left check has be sewn up. I had a Brain Injury to my left Frontal Lobe. Spent 2 years learning how to drive and talk again. Still have a hard time remembering stuff.

Other than that it's been pretty easy.

In all seriousness the Brain Injury was Terrible.

How do you guys that have been busted up work on you cars? I can do smaller things, but bending over, lifting stuff, or working hand tools esspecially at weird angles is a bitch.

Now you "see" why I really thought long and hard about posting up that one.... it's pretty gross.

I had a "colon resection" that went bad... the first time around they did the little pokey tools thing - but I was bleeding out internally - blood loss was so great I coded out... long story - but days later and lots of blood transfusions - they gutted me like a fish. LOL

Fine now - and you can't even see the scar. Of course this picture - self taken (my wife wouldn't do it) - is with a shaved belly and I had to bend backwards to get the camera angle which makes the picture really nasty.... but it was a bad "scar"...

Yeah, I can tell by looking at it how nasty of a surgery that must have been.
That's great that you can't even see the scar now. That was/is a huge slice.:wow: :willy:
Take care bud.

GregWeld 02-26-2010 01:38 PM

It was a double edged sword -- two surgeries in one month - and the huge loss of blood... AND not being able to EAT ANYTHING for about 3 weeks... I was so weak I could hardly get out of a chair and then shuffled around like a 100 year old man for a month.

Red blood is a very important "issue"... I had 10 transfusions... or whatever you call 'em... Eating is also kind of important. I wasn't allowed to.
