LSx Engines painted Chevy Orange

I've already decided what to paint my enigne, but I was wondering what you guys think about painted LSx engines.

Chevy Orange, Gloss Black, or something else (body matching color, etc.)

camcojb 02-25-2010 08:32 AM

if it's an iron block I like an eggshell black, not full gloss. Of course Chevy orange is cool if you're doing an old school theme, but my current LQ9/LS3 headed setup is an eggshell black. Gives a very clean look in my opinion.

I voted Chevy Orange. Look at the GMMP LSx engines.
Look bad ass!!

I painted my aluminum block cast iron gray.

Vegas69 02-25-2010 10:50 AM

Depends on the rest of the car.

I am partial to the orange. My 5 yo son did the paint work on the block and valve covers.

I agree with Todd.... sad to say... :>)

Depends on the rest of the car and it's "purpose"... a show car should probably have a matching block to the paint scheme... a street driver - the black the Jody suggested... and to me (personal preference) I'd only ever do chevy orange on a 100% "restoration" if that was the original color.

My buddies black 56 - has a BBC painted a beautiful RED... and with the black inner fenders and billet --- the red really livens up the engine compartment... and is "kinda" like the orange...

So ---- like Todd said -- it depends...

That is a sharp looking engine bay.:wow:
VERY NICE!!

Depending on your overall look/style, I would go chev orange. I tried to attatch a pic here...

I think this looks REALLY cool for an older vette or shoebox. Making it look "oem" with a twist.

I decided to do the block and the valve covers in Chevy Orange.

Just a bit of overspray to clean off the front cover.

Valve covers primed.

Coated in Chevy Orange a few times.

With the valve covers loose installed.

With the coil packs.

Turned out great I think.

I painted mine chevy orange a few months back. I still have a ways to go. I am going to order a weiland cast intake. Check out Carl Casanova's orange LSx w/ a magnacharger, it is killer.

Here is mine:

GregWeld 03-30-2010 09:29 PM

I believe it's a MARCH setup.... I'm in Calif tonight -- on my way to RTTC so can't ask him... but will - and if it's NOT a March I'll post it up.

It's a Street & Performance serpentine kit. That's what I have on my 6.0 LS. Not installed yet. I plan on powdercoating mine black.

Thanx, He is a certified car nut. If I leave the garage he will go in and work on anything he finds in some cases undo what I did:D  As you can see in the pics he was taking the line off that I had just put on and got caught.

speedshftr 08-29-2010 08:03 AM

It looks good with the engine and intake done orange.

Jimbo1367 12-03-2016 04:24 PM

I've painted my iron block "cast aluminum" and it. Stated rusted in curtain areas. I'm going to try rattlecan epoxy black as a basecoat, then follow up with Chevy orange
