HOLY CRAP!!!! It looks great! I cant take credit for the built, the owner Billy did that, but we put our blood sweat and tears into the paint, that I am proud of.I posted this picture last night but retracted it,I didnt want to show the car before he did.Would love some more shots thanks Rich

gracin7 02-26-2010 11:18 AM

I think this is the car in the background. If you look at the display 'fence', this has the same design.

Not Razor same colors and looked like it from the far shot.

That truck can't compete for the ridler. There are pics of it painted on their website.

Nothing that really says WOW !!!. S.A.R. car is in the great eight? Going to be a lot of politics on that. They've been building that car for a while. It's a bad a$$ car in raw metal. It would have to be my favorite to win.

I agree. Last few years there has always been at least one standout...

Doug's B400
Ferrambo
Troys 36 Ford
Several of Chips cars

These are very nice cars this year, but nothing that says WOW..IMHO

radrambler 02-26-2010 05:17 PM

pick

The Packard...

Tom

Kendall Burleson 02-26-2010 05:22 PM

The 34 three window:thumbsup:

bentfab 02-26-2010 05:29 PM

My bigest thing isss. If your going to spend the kind of coin that these guys spend. Why on earth would you build a fiberglass car!! Two of the contenders are glass. They are cool looking but to much invested into glass. Steve's Dodge is bad a$$ !!!

G-Body 02-26-2010 05:29 PM

Wow this field is weak compared to past years theres winners from the 80's and 90's that are nicer than these cars.
Again i agree nothing really stands out and screams attitude other than that Blue 34

ironworks 02-26-2010 05:39 PM

That spearmint 32 is horrible. The car looks to not have one compound curve. The rear fenders look like trailer fenders. The firewall goes to the body on a 90. Come one did an AC sheetmetal guy build the body.

Yeah all I can say is WOW.

What would the politics be? Painted pic on website? They weren't finished pics.

hifi875 02-26-2010 07:33 PM

:( i see other cars in the background that id rather look at than any of those

Camaroguy 02-26-2010 08:05 PM

That's crazy, did you notice the display for the Packard. I think those are rented poles and chain and a rented piece of carpet. Car is cool, but sad effort on the presentation!

Garage Dog 65 02-26-2010 09:18 PM

Hard to tell with just exterior shots. With this kind of group - you will need to see the details to pick a winner. Burton's 34 has some interesting color combos - while the phaeton has some big names behind it, but too much bling on the outside with the spears imo.... I pick the 34.

Yeah. I think on the other post I started Eric (HWY NOVA) posted some rules. I think you can show it in metal but no painted pics. I think that truck has been done for a long time. If it's the same truck? I saw it on there website like a year and a half ago. Any how the craftsmanship in that car is rediculse. If it's in the great eight I guess everthinG is OK ?

Jr 02-27-2010 12:22 AM

I like the 33 two door.

The Dodge was started in 2003 it has been painted for well over a year but was just recently finished. The only original part on the truck is the back window opening and the upper half of the grille shell. Everything else is hand built I have quite few pieces I fabricated on that truck. I worked at SAR for 2.5 yrs and the body work had just begun when I left in NOV 06. There is probably around 30k man hours in the truck. I am glad to see it finished.

Garage Dog 65 02-27-2010 08:37 AM

30,000 hours :wow:

I'm not familiar with the judging rules - do the judges take into account the build process or the amount of custom mods and such, or is it just looks, fit/finish, craftsmanship, engineering, etc. ?

not sure about 30k hours.
Yes they do they look at everything. Steve has on display the bucks that made the fenders and alot of the hand made bucks for the cast parts on the vehicle.

If you have an hour to kill look at the build photos.

You'll see Tim from Bruning Auto Design in a few of the pics, only guy i know that wears coveralls.

Paladin 02-27-2010 02:44 PM

weak field

Iam not surprised that this year is weak comapred to 2005,2006,2007. The stock market and economy started going down the drain in 2007, which is when you would have had to start your project to compete today. Not too many people felt like spending a million bucks on a ridler contender in 2007. Hopefully succesive years will improve as the economy does and the rebirth of GM and Chrysler. The new technology loooks promising. Ford's new 5.0, and Hotrod mag already featured a 32 rod with their ecoboost twin turbo v6 in it!!

The future still looks bright. can;t wait to see a 66 fastback built with the new 5.0 or ecoboost twin turbo. should be able to get 500 hp easy from that, now just need a 6 speed twinclutch paddleshift. good to go!

ridler 2013 should raise the bar again from troy's "first love' 34 ford

rocketman 02-27-2010 03:40 PM

well at least its not the common marcels bodied cars we seen for years where they all looked the same.

But out of that group I would pick steves truck.
