March "Style Track/Revolver" pulleys 502 BBC
I priced the complete system:
AC compressor/Pwr steering pump/Alternator/Water Pump/ Brackets/Pulleys/complete---Clear Powder Coated over Polished Aluminum Just under $1,800.00:D This seems like a great deal at least 1K less than billet specialities which are not powder coated. Any advise here? |
Make sure you compare apples to apples. I bought the March kit and it was missing a bunch of the covers. The accessories also weren't polished which I wanted.

Vegas...
What finish were the accessories?
Are you satisfied with the quality? |
Check out my Payback thread. I just posted a photo of my new engine with the accessories on it. I'm happy with it. Frank at Prodigy Customs sells them to, you may want to check the price with him.

One of the reasons these are billed as "low cost" is that they lack an auto tensioner... When you go with a serpentine belt system - you're relying on ONE belt to do all the work - alternator - A/C - P/S - Water pump...
A belt tensioner is a "must" in my book. I have a march system -- it's on the shelf with other "has been" parts... and I have two of the Billet Specialties systems... Way mo' betta! Just mu .00000005 worth. |
Vegas and Gregweld...
Vegas, Payback is amazing!!!
I like the looks of your engine...alot! Gregweld, What march system is it? I might be interested? |
I've had a bit of trouble with my March pulley system(23050) on my new GM crate motor. First it was a high rpm belt squeek issue(I run Gatorbacks), then, after buying a different alternator bracket(20127) from them to lower the alternator and get better belt coverage on the water pump pulley, the high rpm squeek went away but now I get an occasional screech on startup. Their customer service didn't seem like they wanted to help me out at all(suggested I invest in an electric fan setup, thanks!!!). I guess their system doesn't agree too well with a stock GM big block 7-bade clutch fan. I probably wouldn't buy a March pulley system again. I'd have to agree with the others, an auto tensioner is an important thing.

The mono bracket design of the Style Trac does do a better job then the old multi bracket kits of keeping everything in line, and also provides decent belt wrap.
As Greg mentioned though, nothing beats a spring tensioner like a Vintage Air system / OEM system. But we sell plenty of March Style Trac and use them in the shop when someone wants something with more bling then a Front Runner. And we can beat that price you have also. |
Ya I wasn't thrilled with my tensioner originally either. It is spring loaded but it has to be at full travel and then I pry the AC compressor up to get the belt tension I desire. Never sqeaked or had any issues YET. I've beat on the car. I agree the customer service is not great but that's what your vendor is for.

But a mechanical fan will make many serpentine set ups squeek. |
