65 chevelle ls2 turbo project
hey guys thought id throw this up.. i have had this car 6 months or so now and when i got it, it had a built 355 in it and was great but i wanted better. so instead of rebuilding that motor to get more power i just said screw it and bought a my ls2 motor.. i can only get pictures every weekend since the car is a nice drive from my house. and i get off work late. but here is my mod list right now let me know what you guys think..
2006 ls2 motor 19k miles 2003 4l80e transmission that i just had fully built for alot of power 0 miles speartech harness for my setup zo6 dbw pedal gt40 garrett turbo turbonetics 42mm wastegate greddy bov aeromotive a1000 60lb siemens inj sanden a/c compressor tr6 plus all new belts brp motor mounts custom driveshaft f-body modified oil pan just sitting in there for now.. it will be taken off and painted and smoothed and im sure im forgetting alot of stuff but all i can remember. the speartech harness should be here wednesday so that can be done and then all the turbo piping and front mount intercooler. the motor is just sitting in there so we can see if there is any clearance issues. alot of stuff on the motor will be powder coated or chromed. and the ls2 fuel rail covers will be put on before the motor swap.. this is what was in there http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7.../chevelle7.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7.../chevelle6.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...built4l80e.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...stomoilpan.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...rch2010035.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...motorswap3.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...motorswap4.jpg |

Anything with 65 and Chevelle in the title has my attention.
|
damn dude can you turn the paint down!!! Holy crap that thing shines!
Great lookin car bud! |
do you have to get lower comp. pistons when you do the turbo?
This looks like an awesome project  |
thanx guys.. you dont have to get lower comp pistons to do turbo you just cant push as much boost without detonation. i only plan to run 6-8 psi which should put me in the 500-600rwhp the motor is 400hp with 400 tq. with low compression pistons id have to run like 10psi to get those kind of numbers. but its safe for the motor having low compression.. this is just a show car and will only be driven 1-2 month or to how ever many shows i can take it to. hopefully be done in a few weeks. talked with john at speartech and my harness should be here wednesday

Are the only plans to change anything the turbo LS2 or will you tweak anything else?
|
anything else as in? it has a full custom suspenion. airride tech full front and rear system, muscle bar sway bars from and back etc. full custom exhaust will be made, custom turbo headers, built rear end, full custom interior, i might throw in a turbo cam but i havent decided yet.
|
real nice!
|
Asking if you were going to change anything else besides the engine/drivetrain.
It's already a great head start. |
lol not sure there is really anything else i can do to the car.
it has custom wheels, suspension, interior, paint, motor, tranny, led tail lights, will have clear headlights with hids when i get the car back, custom system, if anyone has any other ideas on stuff to add then im still open to messing with it :) couple more pictures http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7.../chevelle2.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...chevelle20.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...chevelle21.jpg |

sorry for the long wait but i have a few updates. my turbo piping came in to build my turbo manifolds, got the tranny in the car( the guy was crying when he started cutting through. he wanted me to get a different tranny that fit without cutting.. lol and the motor mounted where it should be. got my fuel system mapped out. ordered a new aluminum radiator with dual fans, front mount intercooler mounted in grill area, all the speartech wiring ran inside the car.
im debating on what to do with the fuel rail covers or intake manifold. i was going to paint one of them the same color red as the car but not sure if it will look bad or not. anyone know how to photoshop? i also will be powder coating/chroming something under the hood to clean it up alittle. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7.../april24th.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...april24th2.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...april24th5.jpg |
paint the motor " kalahari beige bmw code 481 " then the engine covers need to be smoothed and intake also painted red .

You could mount the button "hidden away" like I did mine. (please excuse the ipod jack and air freshener) http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...Install020.jpg |
i also wanted to mention that all the wires are just sitting there not plugged in thats why you can see them. everything will be tucked before its done.
