T-56 Rebuilds
I need suggestions on a good builder of Lt1 t56's? Tranzillas are out the question. The 2nd gear syncro is shot in mine, and I would like to have it rebuilt to handle a solid roller, Track 1 headed 383 with a 200 shot. Thanks guys!:captain:

Don't forget the huge gear puller you'll need. I believe that's the only part I don't have to rebuild a T56. Everything else I have. When the time comes, I'll build mine as well. Give yourself lots of room to work. Good luck

Also built mine myself, the gear puller is a must, I chipped the 5th and 6th gear set when I tore mine apart. I ordered the complete bearing and syncro kit. Mine came out of the New Orleans flood, you could actually see the water line on the inside of the trans. A little Naval Jelly, new bearings, stronger shift fork for 3 and 4, I think, and new syncro's. Trans works flawlessly. Oh yea, I did replace the 5th and 6th gear set, naturally the most expensive.
I'm a machinist, so a lot of this came natural, but I had never built one before I tackled this, downloaded the manual off the internet, about 40 something pages of step by step instructions. Try it! |

D&D did my upgrades for me. Very happy with the work done. Power shifts great and still smooth. But I'll do the synchros myself when the time comes, as it is just time really.
