Another Prodigy Customs Project Delivered!

Here is another project we just delivered. My guys are just knocking out one killer project after another. My personal schedule has been unbelievable. Flew to California last Weds, took the red-eye home, got off the plane and jumped in the truck and delivered this bad boy to North Carolina, picked up a 79 Trans Am in South Carolina today for the full treatment. Whew, I am wore out. But a smiling ultra happy customer like Doctor Chris here makes it all so much fun! I think we really made his dream come true here!

This car is the perfect example of how a fairly stock car with nice paint can be easily and quickly converted into a top notch Badd Ass Pro Touring car without the time and expense of paint jail. This car was a nice body and paint car, had some TT2s, a crate GM ZZ350 and some Scat Pro Car Seats. Otherwise pretty stock.

Chris and I did some serious Project Planning and both really had the same vision. I think the theme came out incredible! I simply love the attention to detail and color coordination of the red stripe, red brake calipers and red-line tires. The weather for the trip was perfect, and just to show it off I hauled it on my open trailer (behind my black truck), People were literally running off the road with thumbs up.

Besides all the major items below, we did some sanding and buffing, some shaking out of some little issues. lots of misc little things.

Long story short, even with the hella expensive wheels and tires (Chrome lip, Diamond Cut, Red-line tires, your talking $6700 here)......even with the high dollar wheels, the total bill was just north of $40K for the entire conversion! That is paying us to do the work and the parts! And it was done WAY faster then a scratch build.

So finding a nice paint car and converting to a Pro Touring car it is a real option for guys wanting to do a Pro Touring car.

And for those that do no know, we use and install everything we sell, or you can buy from us and you install.

XcYZ 04-08-2010 05:44 AM

The redlines are cool.

Warpath Pontiac 04-08-2010 06:10 AM

Wow...that wheel and tire combo really makes that car. I love it!

ItDoRun 04-08-2010 06:44 AM

That guy is a beast. Can he even fit in the car to drive it?

X2, Frank, you and the crew have hit another home run! It kind of reminds me of Michael's Prodigy car (color combo). Great job!

ProdigyCustoms 04-08-2010 06:53 AM

Kinda Prodigy 2! Obvious he is a big fan of Project Prodigy.

Yes the guy is a beast, we made damn sure he was happy!

ItDoRun 04-08-2010 07:02 AM

Nice to finally see a 67 or 68 with the G-Link at ride height.

redfire69 04-08-2010 07:22 AM

Very nice! Any reason why you install the g-link over DSE q-link? Less cutting?

GregWeld 04-08-2010 07:23 AM

Nice job Frank!

Funny -- some of us were talking at length about this type of "build" vs the full on 4 year custom SEMA builds... that end up not being really used to their fullest because they took so long and cost so much... Nothing wrong with either "way". It was just a jaw flapping exercise. But I wonder how many people would be happier with a car they can go out and drive at track events and still be happy with the quality.

Hey -- is that doctor a Gynecologist?

Steve1968LS2 04-08-2010 07:55 AM

Looks great Frank!

Josh69 04-08-2010 09:41 AM

Nice job Frank! That's my kind of build!

Tell us more about those custom redlines? How does one go about getting those added?

monza 04-08-2010 10:02 AM

Cool for sure. Like the performance Redlines, I have a stockish '65 Impala those would look great on. Kinda wish I never saw them...

Flash68 04-08-2010 10:14 AM

Great looking car Frank. I'm sure he is stoked.

Neil B 04-08-2010 10:55 AM

Frank, you do a great job of tailoring each build to specific wants, needs and budgets - ending up with a great finished product every time.

dlouie87 04-08-2010 10:59 AM

Looks great!

buickfunnycar.com 04-08-2010 11:49 AM

Very nice overall package, customer looks plenty stoked.

Interesting that he chose to retain the wheelwell mouldings with that wheel/tire look, seems to clash a bit to me but as long as the client is happy, that's all that matters.

Chuck Byram 04-08-2010 11:59 AM

Nice car, Frank!
Best,
Chuck

We had those done to our BFG KDW TA2s. They can do almost any tire, about $500 to $600 or so for a full set of redlines on your tires or we can supply the tires.

At Ecklers show there was a black 65 impala, dog dish hubcap car. Red guts, original redlines, SHARP. These wheels would have MADE that car!

Both are really great rear suspensions and I have projects with both in my shop as we speak.

The gross cost of having us install a Quadra link VS a G link is at minimum a couple grand more, depending on the project as much as $3000 more. By the time we uninstall the iterior to install the upper link pockets. Install the shock crossmember. Cut off the axle ends to slide on the brackets. We have a lot more labor in a Quadra link install then a G link install.

The G link can be installed from under the car. You do not even have to empty the trunk or remove interior. You do not have to cut off the axle ends. And I really like the adjustability for instant center and anti squat changes we can do with the G link.

Great Job Frank. I love the redlines!!

I'm in total agreement that sometimes it's just better to start with a painted car. It makes things go so much quicker and that makes a happy customer.

DFRESH 04-08-2010 03:20 PM

Wow--great looking car Frank---great job on combo--it really stands out from the rest with those redlines---very, very cool. And you delivered, nice touch man.

Looks great Frank! I love the way the red pops against the black…well done! I guess this means you will be starting my car soon! :D

Very Nice! I love a 68 with a D90 stripe. You just don't see that stripe done. The red on black with the wheel/tire combo makes for a clean, but unique car.

brans72 04-08-2010 06:17 PM

Frank since seem to be in NC alot why not stop in some time and giv me some tips on this beast. I'll treat you to dinner and COLD BEER. I wish I had the funds to have you guy's do my body work at least but I don't so it will be slow process but it will get done. Brandon

Appreciate the reply Frank, thanks-
