I'll say, Looks like fun.
|
Lookin good! Who did you purchase your rocker parts from?
|
Looks like fun I'm glad I don't have as much metal to change as you do. I would also get some bracing in there to keep it from moving.
|
there is a place in dayton, ohio called resto world that had it all in stock. its an hour drive from my house so i saved alot on shipping.
|
had the car a week now, heres how its going.
passenger rocker done http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs482...._6492511_n.jpg firewall is also installed and welded http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._6911436_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...9_635813_n.jpg |
Nice project. You have some nice parts there, and making some nice progress.
|
AWESOME! Nice work.
:captain: |
Very cool. Keep us posted on your progress.
|
started the mini tubs and found more rust than i thought so i cut out the trunk only to find who ever did the rear 1/4's and outer wheel tubs did a crappy job so i'm going to replace the entire rear of the car so that i'm happy with it insted of repairing someone elses crap job. getting the parts next weekend so in the mean time i did he dash swap.
out with the old dash http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._3624553_n.jpg mocking in the 2001 camaro dash http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._6213125_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._8303461_n.jpg dash is done http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._2918836_n.jpg |
Wow, your not waisting any time! Nice looking build. Good luck

That's funny right there! Only because... the only reason these cars take so much "time" is because people don't actually WORK ON THEM... they're real easy to take apart... But it takes some real effort to get out there and start putting them back together. Two things that hold my buddies up from building their "dream cars" or getting them done in a reasonable amount of time (months not years)... Budget: to buy the required parts Effort: if they have the parts - to get them installed CamaroAJ obviously has the budget to go get the parts he needs, and he has the drive/willingness to put in the effort to get the job moving... 'cause they don't build themselves at night while you're sleeping! :woot: |
so far i have spent $17,885 on: i hope i don't get flamed for talking about money:lol:
speedtech sub frame 2001 camaro SS doner 1969 camaro full floor, firewall, 2 rockers, trunk floor, frame rails DSE sub frame connectors, mini tubs misc. stuff i am still under budget, i am going to try and keep this under 30k but i think 35k is more realistic. i have been selling all the stuff off the two cars i don't want/need and i have some stuff from other things i've done that needs sold. between the vette i sold and the other things laying around that i sold i haven't really put any money into the car yet. |
That dash is super cool!!
How close it was? What kind of brackets and how did you install it? |
Quote:
for the two lower side mounts i used two more of the all thread nuts and a piece of 1/2" tube and welded the nuts inside the tube. the tube then was cut to length and welded to the "A" pillers where the stock dash was welded to the piller. the lower center mount i used the stock mount and made a stand to bring it up 2" to hold the dash up in the right spot. i'll post up better pictures tonight, working on installing the frame rails now before i cut off the back of the car that way i have a referance point to where the stock frame rails went and everything lines up right when i go to install the new rear sheet metal. |
since i'm waiting on the sheet metal for the rear of the car i figured i would go ahead and replace the frame rails while i still have a referance point from the factory frame rails
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...5_774797_n.jpg http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs452...._5098118_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._6288130_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._6350989_n.jpg also fitted the dash filler. it will be trimed more once the windshield is in. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._2334562_n.jpg here is a few better pictures of the dash brackets http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...1_851578_n.jpg http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs452...._6292489_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._1036532_n.jpg |
It looks good and solid. Nice work.
|
thanks.
i'm going to start to cut the rear sheet metal off the rear of the car tonight and get the trunk floor set in. going to go pick up the body mounts at lunch so i can get the frame on the car to start on the steering column and sub frame connectors. |
haven't worked on the car the last two days due to other things going on so i got a jump on it tonight because all the sheet metal is commin in tomorrow, friday and then the last of it saturday. i started off with test fitting the front sub frame.
http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs595...._6579056_n.jpg then since its trash night i wanted to get rid of the junk metal so it wasn't sitting around here for a week so i rough cut the big stuff out http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._6675585_n.jpg http://hphotos-sjc1.fbcdn.net/hs575...._1389108_n.jpg http://hphotos-sjc1.fbcdn.net/hs595...._4059305_n.jpg |
Nice work but I am still not sold on the dashjust my opinion though.
|
you have to see it in person, it looks like it belongs there then.

AMD aluminum body panels
http://hphotos-sjc1.fbcdn.net/hs282...._1674084_n.jpg test fitting the driver quarter http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...2_367374_n.jpg passenger door and fender http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._4718955_n.jpg as part of the cars weight loss plan it got lots of aluminum including this front fender http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs262...._8040540_n.jpg test fitting the driver quarter http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._5564997_n.jpg test fitting the rear tail panel (sorry about all the dust on the lens) http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._7361312_n.jpg |
Good luck. Looks like a lot of work, but it's coming along.
|
The test fit looks good. How do you like the new fenders?
|
they are super light. they do have a funny sound when you tap on them almost like they are cheep or something. i don't have the whole front end together so i can't comment on the fitment yet. the trunk lid fits good, did need some tweeking to get to fit the body better though.
|
Wow you really must of wanted a 69 camaro pretty bad to start with......well looks like not much lol
Great work though! |
if AMD made the aluminum fenders for a 67-68 i would have built a 68 i think.
|
been working on getting everything to fit right so nothing good to update for a bit. got everything lined up and should have it welded together by the end of the week.
don't mind the door to fender gaps, the fenders are loose to adjust the doors. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._5112280_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._4611738_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._4234663_n.jpg http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs607...._6453527_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...6_382324_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._7256129_n.jpg |
Dude -- you do great bodywork -- but your camera works sucks!!
Okay - just making fun of ya buddy! You are really going to town on this build! Love it. Keep plugging away! |
It looks good.
|
lol yes my camara sucks. its about 8 years old, has been in the garage most of the time and has hit the ground many times and was also free. but i rather spend money on go fast parts than a new one
|
haven't had a good update in sometime. i had some house work to do so i didn't get to spend as much time on the car as i wanted to. all of the rear sheet metal is all welded together and the frame rails are in and done. only got to work on the car a few hours saturday but got a solid day in today.
got the driver and passenger sub frame connectors installed http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._1601342_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...9_346099_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._2105363_n.jpg i didn't have any 1/8" plate to make the close out panels so i went ahead and got the passenger tub mocked up and the driver side floor and frame cut out. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._6692183_n.jpg http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs318...._6947649_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._5885084_n.jpg going to try and get some plate tomorrow but i'm not sure if i'll get to work on the car or not for a few days. some more yard work to do and the house comes first. |
Shouldn't a project named "Battle Wagon" be a wagon? :_paranoid
Nice work so far. Keep it up! |
haven't had alot of time to work on the car since i have been doing alot of house work since its been so nice out. i've only got to work on the car one or two nights a week for a few hours after work. anyways lots of stuff done.

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._7259433_n.jpg car at ride hight http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._2533140_n.jpg only had a few hours tonight to play but to make the wheel barrow fit the engine it needed cut in half and 5" added http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._4767855_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._4494534_n.jpg |
