Cheapo 69 Camaro
Well I thought I would start a thread about my project. It is another 69 Camaro RS 307 car. I bought this to fix up and sell, but at this time it’s the only car I have so I thought I would try to build a nice driver out of it. My goal is to buy as many used or (new already bought by someone else) parts as possible. The shell is in ok shape for 40 years old. The person I got it from had already started to mini tub it but I was going to sell it so I didn’t want to spend the money on the tubs so I put is a stock inner tub. Now that I am going to build it for myself I may mini tub it, will see if I can get a deal on some tubs. I may build my own mini tubs will see. As for suspension not sure on the rear yet, front will be stock sub frame all welded up and smoothed, it’s almost finished. Front coil over shocks not sure what brand yet. I plan to make my own brackets as Mark Stielow made for Camaro X, and tubular upper and lower control arms. Brakes will be some kind of C5 or 4th Gen F body disc front and rear. Rear end will be what ever I can get a good deal on. I have found some deals on Dana 60 with 410 posi, so I may go that way will see. Not sure on wheels but some kind of 17 or 18 inch again it all depends on what comes along. My goal is to keep the cost around 10K to 15K not including the cost of the car. It’s a good thing my labor is free. Interior will some kind of aftermarket seats and the rest will be stock, I may go with a new dash of some sort?? As for the engine I have a BB Chevy but I will try to come up with a LSX of some kind, maybe just a truck 6.0L or even a 5.3 L. Trans will be manual just not sure what that will be, just depends on what deal I can come up with but would like to go T56. Although this build will not have HIGH dollar parts or any one off parts, the paint, body, and assemble will be as nice as most show cars. Here is a few pictures of what I am starting with. I will try update this thread once a week as I go forward. Let me know what you guys think, and if you have any parts you want to get ride of let me know. Also willing to trade for parts so if any one needs help with their body or paint let me know.

Well after a LONG five months I am back on my Camaro. It's been a long summer we just finish our last install and training at Sterling Auto Body Centers 66 locations nation wide. So now am getting back on it. I got the shell all leveled out Saturday and when I was looking at the shell from the front it looked like the passager side was sitting lower in the back. So this morning I took some mesurements and when I got all around the bottom and qtr's I have found out that my rt side rocker in 1/2 inch lower than then the lt side. These are the factory rockers, so was woundering if anyone else has seen this before?? Will get some more pictures up later.

Rick mine was the same way. Talk to Mike at MCC and he said these things are all over the place measurement wise.
