Ringbrothers Shop 66 Mustang Fastback

The guys decided to build a shop car that they can autocross - they were tired of watching everyone else have all the fun. Too bad Mike and Jim can't drive.

We have a lot of people to thank for making this project possible:
Keith Craft, Chris Alston's Chassisworks, Foreline Wheels, American Power Train, Tremec Transmissions, Be Cool Radiators, Fuel Safe Fuel Cells, Vintage Air, I Did It, Heat Shield Products, BF Goodrich Tires, Flowmaster Mufflers, Royal Purple, Classic Instruments, Baer Brakes

Without the help of everyone involved including our staff members this project wouldn't be happening. Thank you!

I think it sits a little high for autocross. Just my Opinion. The wheels might be a little small also. But other then that,

The swivel casters are set up for those really tight courses. I can only assume that the ride height was strategically chosen to keep them from clipping any cones with the bumpers or rocker panels.

All kidding aside - I can't wait to see them thrash on it. Just make sure they don't make it so damn perfect that they don't want it to get some cone rash!!!! ;)

http://www.xpel.com/ will protect it from the cone rash

Mike said we needed extra ground clearance for the transfer case. Don't worry they aren't very fast anyway. Dumb and dumber can't drive anyway.
They are building high enough so they can drive OVER the cones without knocking them over. You all wish you would have thought of that!

ironworks 04-22-2010 04:09 PM

Those frame rails look awesome. I thought I was the only one dumb enough to put that much time into rear frame rails that you will never once all the sheetmetal is on, unless you happen to flip the car.

Looks good guys.

HMMM, where have I seen that frame rail look before?
Great choice for a shop car guys, looks like it was pretty clean body wise to begin with.

I do get in trouble every once in a while. We have a lot of fun here though - I wish I could post a camera. Then everyone would have pitty on me!

That cantilever set-up looks like maybe it's pre-fab? Is it a kit from somewhere?

Looking really good!!!

BBC71Nova 04-26-2010 08:48 PM

A RingBrothers "shop car" HA! This is gonna be good :D It already looks far too crazy nice for any "shop car" I've seen.

BTW, I'm super envious of all you fab geniuses :hail: . Makes sitting behind the desk at a computer all day that much more painful.

Jeff-

I think it might be from Maier Racing...

I have to say though, it looks like you guys are almost having too much fun for a car that isn't finished.

I agree, it does look like Maier racings new rear design but I didnt see Maier Racing in the list of contributers to this project. It looks like they may be experimenting with the coil-over placement from the TCP cantilever rear setup. Or maybe they just set them up there while working on something else. :unibrow:

ironworks 04-27-2010 08:55 AM

The rocker system in the back, looks like parts from Chassisworks. They use something similar on the pushrod rocker system they sell for mustangs. Plus those are Varishocks from Chassisworks hooked to the Rockers.

Come on guys what is taking so long? Are you going to have this car done for Columbus?........

It's all Chris Alston that we are modifying because they didn't want the cage under the car.

65 347 04-27-2010 08:43 PM

I can't wait to see what kind of hood the guys come up with. I need one and am looking for something different.

Looks good so far!

I really want to say "well, aren't you guys special," in a sarcastic tone, but that is actually pretty special and cool.

66GTFB 06-07-2010 11:33 PM

Any updates on this project guys? Can't wait to see this one finished. What size wheel and tyre combo are you going to run?

Joe.
