I need a new project.

A few months ago I sold the 73 camaro I was working on to Jody Berard. And started looking for a 71/72 javelin or 66/67 nova to mess around with. Well I found a nice 66 2dr. sedan I got it all striped down and ready for media blasting and started working on the C-6 frt. sub frame & 4 link rear suspension. Now a visitor to the shop has saw it and is buying it also. So I need a new project.Would like somthing rust free & complete as far as trim, bumpers, glass, does not need a motor & trans, would be nice if it would roll on to a trailer.Open too ideas. But I do not want to do a 1st gen camaro. Thanks Scott.

Go for A AMX or Vega and be different!

How about another chevy II. Something like a 63 SS since you have already done the jig for the frame and all. I just happen to have one I would like to sell, lol.

skatinjay27 05-10-2010 09:53 PM

yeah scott do an amx styled after the trans am one.

I have been thinking of a Penske/Donohue style trans am javelin. But I need to find a complete 71-72. Or I would really like a 70-73 camaro w/ faded & 20 year old paint like the one Klye Tucker has.Take it apart & make the under side really slick and leave the old paint on it. Thanks for all the coments.Scott

Hope you found a good AMC, but either way I'm sure it will be killer.

I had found a a rust free 72 camaro and when I ask for him throw in the frt. bumpers he said that was a deal brecker. He said I was asking for to much.So the hunt is still on. I still would like to have a 71-72 javelin to build but I really want a car that is driveable over the long haul. So a trans am javeiln will have to wait until I get a suitable power tour car. Scott.

Javalins

You know I'm in California and I used to know of a few that are in my little town. Rust isnt really an issue and there is a guy that has numerous Javalins. I could try to track him down and see if he still has them and is interested in letting one go

mike343sharpstk 05-16-2010 12:56 PM

I did the first three stops on the Power Tour last year with the wife with my newly finished car. It was very, very cool.

Happy hunting. Having built an AMC I totaly understand the frustration of finding what you are looking for.:_paranoid

Getting cars from out west to the midwest is at minimum a grand or more, due to how good the steel is out there it's totally worth it, but still a big check to write before you even start the project.

I am seriously considering the purchase of another gen-1 Javelin shell from another member here, If anyone on here has a better way to ship, via rail container or something else please post.:_paranoid

My vision for a javelin is a raw race car type car just like my camaro.Loud, fast, nosiy, sprung stiff,& very quick steering. The kind of car that spits at it's competitors. It's hard to drive a car like this on the power tour, unless you are 20 years old.At this point in my life I need a car just like the DSE 1970 test camaro.

Scott-not trying to jack your thread but let's go back to the first post and the comment about starting the C6 subframe for the early Nova. I'm building a tube-frame 65 and am using C4 front suspension. Do you build the subframe yourself? Is there anywhere I can see pics or follow a thread about how you go about it? Any help or info you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Peter
