A little cleaner under the hood
I've been meaning to do this for quite a while now, but I finally moved the coils.
Looks much better, but now I'm not so in love with the factory fuel rail. lol http://lateral-g.org/temp/no_coils.jpg Better than before... It almost looks like my car had its braces taken off. http://lateral-g.org/temp/wide_LS7.jpg |
WOW.... Nice!

Look good under there.
|
Looks killer Scott, where do the coils end up mounting?
|
Huge difference! It's amazing what that little extra details will do.
What dd you use to move them? |
scott the old girl cleans up good.
rick k:thumbsup:   |
I offered him some but he must of gone with a different set.
|
Looks great Scott!

Car looks great Scott! I was wondering when you made the swap, did you have any panel fitment adjustments to make from the old subframe to the new? I see you did not take the front sheetmetal apart, but was wondering how that part of the swap went. Thanks!

I mounted them on the backside of the footwell area of the floor. There's at least 2" of clearance - they fit perfect. You can see the right side coils in this pic. the drivers side has way more room, but because of the steering column, you can't see them at all. http://lateral-g.org/temp/no_coils2.jpg Quote:
What was pretty cool was we checked for squareness of the frame when I had it aligned on a pretty new Hunter alignment rack. It was perfect. I was surprised, to be honest, that it was dead nuts on. I had simply used the alignment dowel rod holes in the frame and body and cross measured in a few places. Another interesting thing was that I had the car aligned 2 years ago when I finished it, and we got the thrust angle set at .01 degrees. After 2 years and 7,300 miles, it still measured .01 degrees. Pretty amazing that the quadralink never moved. http://lateral-g.org/temp/test_fit_01.jpg |
I finally get to see a set of these coil brackets mounted on a finished car!! Good to the they worked out good for you Scott :D

I really like how clean that makes it look!

Looks much better, but now I'm not so in love with the factory fuel rail. lol
LOL! It's like peeling an onion, once you get one layer peeled you see a better layer beneath it. That's how all of the projects snowball out of control! I can't count how many of my projects have gone from say, updating the brakes, changing the radiator ( insert whatever part/system) into, " While were at it " and the next thing you know you're doing a frame off/full build LOL! I think it's a sickness we all share. Tim |
looking great scott where did you mount the coils?most people don't have any idea how difficult it is to hide all the wiring and make it clean.the difference is in the details.ps i realy like your camera too!
|
Looks 100% better Scott. That's a clean looking engine bay.
|
Looks amazing Scott. I have a question as well. How do you like having the engine un-painted? It looks great and we have been going back and forth on this issue. Look vs. upkeep etc. I really like the look of yours, is it hard to keep clean? Thanks.
|
Wow, big difference! was it at all difficult to run the wires under the headers? I'd kind of like to do that.
Also, probably missed it, but did you ever give us driving impressions of your new DSE sub? Matt |

Super clean!
  |
What coils? I don't see no stinkin' coils!
Looks really nice Scott! :woot: |
|
Nice! It's amazing how what once was a masterpiece in your mind can be improved so much. My engine swap turned into 40-50 hours of extra work. How do you like the drivability?
|
Back from vacation, now I can get caught back up. lol

Ok, I think I'm done now. :willy:
I'll get some better pics tomorrow during the day. I had to use the flash tonight, but that doesn't make for very good pics. http://lateral-g.org/temp/fuel_rails_01.jpg http://lateral-g.org/temp/wide_LS7.jpg |

Thanks Nigel.
As for the DSE subframe swap follow-up, I posted some feedback here. I couldn't be happier with it. It's a new car. If I had to sum it up in one word, it would be precision. |
The rails look much
better. Money well spent
