GM Fenders

Is it possible to still get orignal GM front fenders for a 1968 Camaro?

i mean real new original GM sheet metal?

waynieZ 05-21-2010 06:42 PM

When I was looking on line for NOS sheet metal for my 69 I saw a lot more 67-68 stuff than 69.

If you watch ebay and camaros.net you will see them pop up from time to time. There is a guy on camaros.net selling a bunch of NOS sheet metal for a 69 there now. You just have to be patient and keep watching. You could also place a wanted ad on camaros.net but that will probably bump the price even higher.

If you think GM fenders are going to fit any better than repros you could be in for a big surprise and will be taking a sledge hammer to them too! It all depends when they were produced and later ones fit just as bad as anything you can find, quality control was not any better at the GM stamping plants on cars they weren't building anymore.

I remember a time when 2nd gen Firebird front fenders were so bad that people would ask for reproductions.

i am with you Jim
but this guys "Buddy" told him and i am just doing my part.

Hey Frank -- Were those the 'new' aluminum fenders from AMD you were bangin' on? Haha j/k...you're a brave man to take a slegde hammer to new sheetmetal!

Ron in SoCal 05-24-2010 01:32 PM

Jeff - good to know. First hand experience counts in my book. I only spoke to him when I was shopping for fenders and he had them in stock. I ended up getting them from a friend here...

I know of a set for $3500. Its stupid unless for some reason you just have to have them. I've seen a few and they are all near that high.

A guy I know deals in NOS stuff

his name is Gary Volpiselli cell 704-287-3070. Out of Concord, NC. Restores 69 Camaros for a living and knows his stuff. Got most of my NOS from him when I did my build. Has a line on 67-68 stuff as well.
