Hey guys
Hi everyone. I've been a long time lurker on here but never made an account until now. In high school I had a '71 Pontiac Lemans Sport and found this site because the pro-touring concept started getting some attention commercially back then. I saw Mark Stielow's '69 Camaro, Thrasher, in a magazine and hung the centerfold poster on my wall because I thought it was an awesome style to model my own build after. I found this website and instantly knew this was the crowd for me. Anyways after high school I went to college and had to sell the classic to buy a more practical vehicle...which I instatly modded to the point where it was a less practical vehicle then the Lemans. Once I sold that I bought my current vehicle, a 2002 ZO6. With the car payment that I have now I can't afford to mod the car at all and while it's a fantastic vehicle and a beastly performer, not being able to customize the car renders it useless in my eyes, so I've decided to sell the car to buy something a little more vintage. Once the car is sold I am looking at getting either a 68-72 Chevelle or a 70-72 GTO depending on what I find. Whatever I get will be low, loud and fast and I look foward to getting everyones advice, opinions and help on my upcoming build.
Regards, Ryan I'm at work but here's some pics of my previous rides (Lemans was pre-digital media for me lol) http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...en19/Front.jpg http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...ken19/Side.jpg http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...9/SDC10264.jpg http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...9/SDC10265.jpg http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...9/SDC10266.jpg |

Wow looks like my ta :( |
Ended up getting a 1971 Pontiac Lemans Sport 350 4bbl. It's should be on its way to be delivered sometime in the next week. I can't wait until it gets here:woot: :woot:
The info on this site has already helped me out tremendously with deciding on suspension parts, wheels, tires, and engine mods. Pics of the car are forthcoming when the car arrives. |
Welcome!!! Nice looking rides you had.
I currently have a '99 Hugger Orange SS with white leather that I probably will have to sell to build my pro-tour car as well. It will either be a '69 Camaro or a '70 Chevelle. Good luck! |
Nice lookin car Tones. Hugger Orange is an awesome color but good luck with getting your build started too.

No pictures of the car yet guys but I did start doing the build sketch for some inspiration. Here goes

Looks pretty cool, though! :)
|
I'm digging it.

Sorry, you can't join here... You don't have a 69' Camaro... :D ;) :D
Just kidding, Great looking cars ! I will be anxious to see progress pics on the Lemans... Jason |
Thanks tones and Jason. Looking fiward to getting started on this build as soon as I get a few things things sorted.

I know it's been a couple months since my last update but I ran into a couple problems with the car. The motor overheated and when I tore it down I couldn't believe that it was still running. Needless to say the motor needed to be rebuilt (for the second time, evidently) so I had it bored another .030 over, bringing it to .060 total. Everything is stock replacement on the rebuild except the cam and intake. The car is eventually getting an LSx swap so I didn't see spending extra money to beef up this motor to much. The cam is purely for the cool factor and to keep me going until the LS motor gets in there. Anyways here's some long overdue photos of the motor, freshly rebuilt and the car as it is now. These are the only pics I have on me (phone) so there not the best quality.

Looks nice ! Love the color.
 |
Thanks Monte. The previous owner told me it was crystal turquoise, which is a Pontiac color IIRC

Welcome! A '69 Lemans was my driver training car when I got my license in '74. I managed to get every wheel on Mom's car in separate incidents. :unibrow: Have fun with the project, they definitely have potential and aren't a dime-a-dozen like those crappy '69 Camaro's.
|
Thanks Sieg, I'm right there with you. My first car was almost identicle to the one I have now. You're definetly right though, they have potential. There GTO's with, IMHO, a nicer front end
|
Cool project, good to see something different. Look forward to seeing more.
|
Thanks 89RS, Good news guys I just picked up a '00 Camaro SS to serve as my daily so the plans for the Lemans are about to get a little more in depth :unibrow:

Nice looking car.

Thanks Jenny and Wayne
