Hey thanks guys,really appreciate it.
Check out these latest photo's that have surfaced after 42 years, how cool is this?
A reader who was stationed in Ft Monmouth,NJ (real close to Englishtown) in 1967 & 1969 (spent all of '68 in 'Nam) sent these to Frieburger and he forwarded them to me. This first shot is real special...May of '67 @ Englishtown would have been Ingenue's debut and her maiden voyage down the 1/4 mile!:wow: I was at this race too (9 yrs old at the time) and I remember it like it was yesterday...Coney Island Ralph Landolphi drove Ingenue just this once and piloted her to a first round win over Doug Nash's Bronco Buster II injected-289 Bronco (thought that car was the coolest and loved how it sounded:unibrow: )...both cars broke after this race, the Buick's auto trans was toast so Nash went on to the 2nd round Chicago-style match racing. This was the first time the car was exposed to the public, and you can see from the crowd around it...no one had ever seen a Buick funny car before.:_paranoid http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...htownMay67.jpg This 2nd shot sent in by the same reader was either late 1967 or sometime in 1969,Bruce Bohen, third driver of Ingenue was in the seat now and in this pic, she's headed up towards the starting line ready to let 'er rip. The photographer said he was a die-hard Chevy guy and usually wouldn't take pics of anything except Chevrolets so he said he musta thought this car was cool... http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...eturnroad2.jpg Look how purty she was when new...!:woot: |
Congratulation's John it looks sweet! I'll be picking up a copy.

|
Thanks guys...it's amazing how many people read HRM.
People are coming out of the woodwork with stories and pictures,we're re-connected old friends who haven't spoken with each other in 30-40 years and just having a grand old time. It's amazing how this old Buick has changed my life... |
Whoa, that's pretty cool. I have my copy sitting on the throne - I'll have to give it a second look.
