My '64 'Vette
Hey all,
OK, I can't say when this thread will end, but here is the start. I'm working on a '64 'Vette convertible that's shall we say challenged. The plans at the moment is to have a custom tube chassis with all 2010 ZR1 suspension components (with the appropriate mods to fit under the fibreglass). http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...k/DSCF0610.jpg http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...k/DSCF0616.jpg http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...k/DSCF0621.jpg http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...k/DSCF0615.jpg http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...k/DSCF0612.jpg http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...k/DSCF0618.jpg As of now, I have all the various suspension components in boxes (rotors are on their way, but dang those Brembo calipers are massive!). The rack that should be here in a week is from Woodward, thanks to some recommendations on the forum. :lateral: The sway bars are from Pfadt (http://www.pfadtracing.com/catalog/p...roducts_id/38). I have to narrow them to fit. I have a Currie Fab 9 IRS rear end that I plan on running custom Driveshaft shop CVs that will handle a minimum of 1000HP. For an engine, I plan on a twin turbo LS. A T-56 Magnum 6 Speed transmission with a little added beef will be swapping the cogs. I plan on 265/35ZR19 in the front, P345/30ZR19 in the rear. Well, need to keep working. http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...k/DSCF0644.jpg  -- Joe |
Corvette
"P345/30ZR19 in the rear."
Are you trying to keep this a convertible or will it be a roadster? That tire may wreak havoc on the top assembly. Hedges Speed Shop claims the top still works with 325/35R19's on this 67: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...tte/fd52_3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...tte/0128_3.jpg I have my doubts, I'm going to check it out sometime this summer. My poor 65 project has been stuck in neutral for the last ten years. I just love some of the new chassis options that are out now - makes my Car Creations chassis look like a dinosaur. Nick |
It sounds like an awesome project. I'll enjoy watching this one come together.
Good luck with it. |
Glad to see another Corvette in the crowd -- looking forward to seeing your project develop. Good choice on suppliers. Woodward and the Driveshaft Shop both have great products and service. Do you have a removable hardtop? That is how I solved the big tire versus convertible top problem. I still see C2 removable tops for sale at reasonable prices. What chassis are you going to use? Good luck and keep us updated.

Love the project & you have a great little worker to share in the fun I see.
Keep us informed. |

Am thinking of a custom soft top, but will have to see. The frame is from SRIII.  |

Have the Moser aluminum centre section in (lightened 3.50:1 gears) with a Wavetrac (http://www.wavetrac.net/) diff. Still waiting on the CV joints before the rear coilovers can be finished. Getting close! |
Looking good. SRIII certainly makes a great looking frame and it works so well too.

x2. That frame is slick...

Wow, subscribing!

Man... I wish I woulda thought about having the back half of my SRIII frame like you did. I guess I'll just have to do another Vette when I'm done with the current one.
Great progress on your '64. That's gonna be a beast. |

I'm liking what I'm seeing so far!

Very,Very,Cool.Who make's the CV shaft's.I can't wait to see more of this amazing build.  Scott M.
|
that is one cool pile of metal you have there. So is that the same ZR1 geometry?
|
The CVs are from the Driveshaft shop. They are variants of:
http://www.driveshaftshop.com/domest...5-axle-hub-kit The inners were setup for 934CVs (see http://www.currieenterprises.com/ces....aspx?id=3498). The outers are the ZR1 35 spline units. Yes, the same geometry as the ZR1. A bit narrower, but I will still need to stretch the front and rear fenders to get the rubber that I want under them. The big thing is that I won't be running the torque tube connected to the engine. The TR-6060 that I have will be bolting directly to the engine. Thoughts? |
Just off the hook! What next?:woot:
|
I think it looks awesome, you done a hell of a job so far
