2nd Gen Desert Find.....
Out showing some custom homes yesterday and I walk into the backyard and what looks to be a fairly clean 2nd gen less the engine. I don't know what year and I haven't approached the owner. My guess is the husband died and it's a widow in a huge custom home ready to liquidate. I'm going to approach her and attemp to purchase the car if the price is right. Which leads me to my next question. What's the right price for a good 2nd gen roller? I'll flip it since I don't need another leach. Car looks pretty damn nice from my brief inspection.

70-73 RS, not sure exact year. Definitely a cool car at the right price.

Wow....for the right price that would be quite a find! I would love to put that in a barn for a future build!! Looks pretty solid and complete!
|
After looking on Flea Bay it's not that valuable. I'll buy it if she's willing to let it go cheap. Maybe a real race car....
|
those cars are ugly... esp the RS!:D
if its super dry 3k TOPS! |
Hey buddy, ol pal, ol buddy, ol pal, ol buddy. I'm sure you are going to show up to push that prestine piece of 40 year old iron into my trailer.:willy:
|
I got one extra bay left in my garage:unibrow: Maybe I'll get a discount if I ship two back from SEMA
|
Come on Todd, everyone needs a few projects to keep em busy. Besides, this could be "Payback II" :unibrow:
|
Todd as soon as you start really looking at the second gen and see what you could have I bet you will throw rocks at your 1st. gen.Keep it, build it and go after Finch and Rupp.
|
Hey Todd , If your able to pick this up to flip let me know!!!!:unibrow:
|
I'd say the value is $3K to $4K at best for that model in that condition with no motor. I can see some rust around the rear window frame which could be trouble if you pulled the rear window molding and rear trunk filler panel. I'd check the metal around the trunk hinges also. Open the trunk and feel around with your hands up under those areas. They don't make replacement metal for that area behind the rear window so you have to fabricate it or get a donor car to replace it.
If it's fairly rust free, and you get it for $1K or $1.5K, you got a good deal. |
That would cool, if the price is right!
I'd like to see how you build that bad boy up as well! |

Thanks for the advice guys... |
Nice find either way. It would be great to come across something like that but even so, I doubt it would be in as good of condition from where I'm from.
|
can i jump in on dibs ? :D
shipping to nj would suck |
Nice find
Wow nice find. I would love to find an RS like that. I have two standard 2nd gens. If you buy it I would love to buy the front end from you with a standard front end thrown in for you.
|
I got 2 second gens sitting in my back yard that one happens to be a RS!!
Parts/Prototype cars.. I have already parted out 3 of them :_paranoid Quote:

Are you implying that these 2 cars would be for sale? :) |
It's her friends car. He bought it brand new and it's been sitting for a long time. She said last time she checked he wouldn't part with it. It probably could be bought for more than I'm willing to pay but I don't see a steal happening.
|
Todd, just kiddin!!!.Your 69 is done right and is bad as%.I just the love body lines of the 2nd. Gen's.This RS would look great sitting in your garage if it was all black.

very nice find.
Hopefully its rust free. 70's had low back seats. 71's had high back seats and the rocker moulding. You can also tell by the header panel emblem. Color Vince |
