thanks. so far, just my dad and myself. scott shafiroff 540. ez efi. all aluminum. comes off the dyno tomorrow. can't wait! the body is solid about the floors and trunk. was a vinyl top car so it had some rot in one sail panel and the lower part of the windshield. had to replace a quarter on the driver's side. the car had been wrecked. no rust in the rockers or other sheet metal. had to find a right front fender due to previous accident as well. overall, as far as chevelles go..........it's a solid 8 because there are no 10's.

Love the look of your project so far.

How did the engine do on the Dyno?

I also would like to know how you like the "Fast EFI" when you get all set up.

Thanks,

Thanks,

it made 625.4 hp and 676 ft lbs. of torque. i will let you know how the efi goes.

The WidowMaker 07-27-2010 09:15 PM

ive been reading that the single fast setup is only good for 550-600. id love to see what it puts down with it.

good work so far!

me too. i am fairly certain the old man will find a chassis dyno somewhere. ssre dynoed it at 623, 624 and 625 on the third pull at the flywheel. torque was 676. should pull like a beast. its really a mild combo due to the limitations of the efi setup. but........you know they have come out with an add on from f.a.s.t.? must put another throttle body on and use a different controller. so if it aint enough, we might go that route.

big brown came to see us again

anyone use this brand? sachs? got it from the transmission place. looks nice close up. pressure plate is made in mexico...........that's better than china! dam. that's sad when you get excited over something being made on your continent even if it ain't in your home country.;)

what size primaries are your headers? my old man has lemons on his 66 chevelle and they wrap around the frame, but theyre 2.25".

i think 2 1/8 is the largest they offer without going over the frame. that's what we ordered.

Man oh man that motor is just a freakin work of art...You can just SEE the torque numbers pouring out those heads...

Funny to think that it wasn't too long ago that 600 streetable hp was much harder to build for, would only really run good WFO, (on 92 'plus anything liquid and flammable' to add to the tank, and forget about any kind of civility around town...And now you have to (ha ha) "settle" for the 600max HP EFI unit...My oh my have we all gotten greedy for horse-power...HELL YEAH WE HAVE, especially since it's gotten 'reasonably' affordable and hella-reliable...

Just like the rest of these car hounds, I can't wait to hear about how the thing handles itslef day to day, cold/warm, (heaven forbid) driving in school zones, etc...I'm sure just like all the other superior products they offer, that F.A.S.T. EFI will handle flawlessly...

Can't wait to make the swap over myself...

Keep the pics comin' man...You know we all live thru these builds thru the late night photo-shoots...

Peace
