Hi Guys,
I thought I'd do a little showing off. Here is a couple of recent projcts from Precision Metalcraft. We also started doing some Ls valve covers. I would like to do a group buy, Let me know if anybody is interested. Pricing depends on how many I can do at one time. Retail price $450 per set, If I can get 10 sets sold I would do them for $350. O-ring seals and all hardware included.

DO you guys do anything for the new 6.1 hemi! I'm building a 70 challenger and plan to add turbo's and hate the look of the stock intake

Yes please (assuming those fit a 5.7 Hemi as well which I'm almost positive they do)

Here are a couple of valve cover pictures, as well as the Hemi manifold. The valve cover are 1.25 inches taller than factory to clear the bigger valve trains. This is the first and only Hemi we have done. We look forward to doing more.

Do you have any pictures of Bud's Roadster right now? I'm sure people would like to see what else you're capable of doing, and I haven't seen it since it left Best of Show.

As far as the hemi valve covers, I don't know if I will ever build them. What I have learned about valve covers is that there is a lot of setup/fixture time in them and the only way it makes economic sense is to do a bunch of them at a time. if I get enough requests I may do them but realistically they are not on the near horizon.

Here is all I'm going to show of Buds 32, I wish I could show more but Bud wants to keep some of it a surprise until it's complete.

I'm still down for the 6.1 HEMI manifold.....and put me down for some valve covers too....:)

There's a couple of Hemi valve cover sets. How many would you need to build for it to be econimcally sensible, and any idea what the cost might be if you had said amount? I'll put the word out.

Hey guys, Probably need to get 5 sets of hemi valve covers for it to make sense, $600-$700 range. If we could get 10 sets I could pass the savings on to you, somewhere around the $500 range. I know this sounds expensive but there appears to be a ton of work in them as compared to an LS or similar style valve cover.

How about some pics of your custom oil tanks..

Ho about a adapter spacer to make newer LS valve cover fit older first series LS series like a 98 engine.

TJ & Tim from Bruning Auto made a set of Hemi Valve covers and were never able to find anyone to make them. I wonder if they would be willing to work with you guys since they have the CAD files.

On a side note:
Any chance you have a picture of a LS motor with one of your intakes and Valve covers on it. Considering your stuff for my next project.

The problem wasn't finding someone to make them. The problem was finding someone to buy them. At $700 or $800 for a set of valve covers your market is very small. Then the added cost if you wanted to move the coils from the valve cover like they did on the Challenger.
Moroso make a billet Hemi valve cover. over $900
Granatelli had some billet covers at SEMA, they were over $900 also.

Yeah the issue isnt usually making them or finding someone to make them....its being able to make them at a reasonable profit. The HEMI market is tiny compared to the LS market etc.

You arent going to find many people that will drop almost $1k on a set of valve covers for any make/model. The market has to be pretty small

I dont know much about manufacturiing billet parts, but I wouldnt think it would take $800/set to make a reasonable profit...but I guess it does.

I agree on the price issue. Even at around $500, it's an easier sell, but not an easy sell by any means. I'd love to have a set and would be willing to drop $500 but no way am I going up to $800-$1,000. I've put it out on a couple websites but doesn't seem to be much interest. Again, must be a price issue even at $500. Sucks, because I'd love to have a set. Maybe there will be more demand and I can get a matching pair when I get ready to order the intake manifold.

Hi Guys, Sorry it's taken so long to get back with you. It's crunch time on Buds '32.

I've been scratching my head on the HEMI valve covers and I may have a different way of building them that MAY get the price down. I have a couple of questions.
1)Can anybody get me rough physical dimensions Length, width, Height?
2)Are both sides the same?
3)Are the 5.7 and 6.1 valve covers interchangeable?
4)Can the oil fill be located in the valve cover instead of the manifold? This one is not that important it would just make the manifold easier.

On a side note:

Not at the moment, I've get 2 sets of ls valve covers in stock, I just don't have any manifolds built at the moment.

Jeff, thanks for posting a couple little teasers of Bud's '32. I know Dick is rather secretive about the project right now, and I really wanted to see how things were coming along, but would have felt weird driving over to bug you just to see it.

Jeff....I can send you the OEM valve covers off my mock up motor if you want to measure and play with them some.

I dont see an issue with the oil fill plug being on the valve cover, but if you keep the stock coil mount locations, there wont be much room if any at all. The coils take up most of the surface

Personally I want to move my coils......remote mount like some of the LS stuff or under the manifold, like Bruning did.....

They look the same side to side..... I'm pretty sure the 5.7 vs 6.1 is the same...not 100%

I think this is the best option, remote mount the coils. Jeff, would they fit under the intake you make for the Hemi?

New to the LS stuff and I have a common and dumb question I am sure? Where and how do you remote mount the coils? Can someone send me to a post or help? Thanks

Any progress on these Jeff? If you haven't seen the sheet metal valve covers Bruning made, check them out, they would be a perfect match for your intake. Also, is it possible to get physical dimensions on the Hemi manifold, OR is it taller/shorter than the stock car manifold, and by how much? If you don't do the valve covers, is it possible to relocate the oil fill further forward on the manifold. I've got my engine set back into the firewall and the pic you posted of the Hemi manifold will not allow me to fill oil. Thanks Jeff.

I replied to your post in my Cuda thread..

Jeff wont be making any valve covers for the HEMI.... I gave him mine to measure and use as a staring point for a design. But the bottomline came out that the cost of the design, engineering and production cost for Jeff, just couldnt be supported by the market....the valve covers would just be too expensive to make and sell for a small market.....so he's not going to make them and I dont blame him.

As for the intake....he's building mine as we speak and we arent putting the oil fill canister in the back of the manifold....I though it ruined the look of the intake. On mine we are just putting the oil fill in the stock location....mine will just have a small cap, but he can make a longer neck like the stock if you want.

As for the height.... the prototype in the post is about 3/4 inch taller than stock if I remember correctly...maybe 1 inch, not 100% sure....but it is taller than stock .....

On mine its going to be shorter overall and the TB will be moved down and back compared to the first version.... he let me test fit the prototype on my car, but with the motor raised about 1.5 inches, the body of the manifold fit fine but the position of the TB hit my hood. So he made some tweaks to lower the manifold body and reposition the TB as low and as far back as he could...trying to balance the fit and not destroy the performance of the manifold at the same time....hopefully it will fit and perform at the same time...

Last I talked to him, the manifold should be done in the next 1-2 weeks, so I'll post up when it arrives...
