budget home built pro touring 69 camaro
7 Attachment(s)
here are some pics on the progress of my 69 camaro project. every part has been built by myself with a little help along the way from my stepdad scott who built the 69 sunoco camaro. I built my own subframe using modified stock camaro stuff power unisteer rack speedway engineering splined sway bar QA1 coilovers wilwood 13" brakes LS1 and T56. out back is a home built nascar style trailing arm set up with panhard bar and QA1 coilovers. 9 inch ford with a speedway motors posi trac third member 3.89 gear moser 31 spline axles. centerline wheels 17X11 and 17X9.5 with 315/35/17 and 275/40/17 rubber. most everything was done by me at home in my two car garage with the help of scott and brian kellison who helped me out with the paint and body work. the main goal for the build was to build a car on a tight budget that was capable of turning down some quick times on the road course and autocross and still be a pretty well mannered street car. just thought id throw up a few pics and see what everyones opinion was.
thanks, kevin. |

That's good, it takes a special person to drive a big block car and wipe up them LSX's. :unibrow:

would appreciate more details about the modded stock subframe. Include pictures if possible..
Just re-read post and discovered that it's not a stock frame at all. You built your own around stock components. more details and pics would be appreciated. |
Kevin doesn't visit here very much. But I can tell you a little bit.A few years ago I built my first sub frame using stock lower arms and tube upper arms & coil overs. It's stock geomerty, using gulstrand mod.Uni steer rack & pinion & speedway engineering sway bar.You save about 50#lbs. and w/the narrowed rails you can fit 10 inch wheel.Kevin used my jig to build his sub frame. Now we are building the sub frames to use C6 componets.Because the componets are about the same cost as the after market tube arms. But if you use the c5-c6 brakes that's where you can save some money. The AGR rack is 1/3rd the price as the unisteer rack so you save again ($250.00 vs.$750.00).We use QA1's or strange engineering shocks. Not as top notch as the Afco's but real good for the money.Kevin has some real good photo's of the bare sub frame I will see if he can post them up.Kevin's car look's even better in person. He's working real hard to have it ready for KC Goodguy's.

appreciate the feedback.
