I would take that in an instant!!! It has such presence, which really brings back the feel of the old muscle cars, and what has been lost in the in the last 20 years. I am huge fan!

If Dodge builds that with over 400hp, it will be a winner. I will buy one for sure.

If it weighs over 3800lbs, its a porker and that will turn me off. Just like the new Mustang GT500 is at 3850lbs, simply too much weight. It would be nice @ 3600lbs or less, but I know thats not going to happen.

I was getting my '04 Monte Carlo serviced yesterday, and walking around the GM dealership... I thought I was going to cry. They had NOTHING there I wanted to buy. Stupid Cobalts, and Aveos. WTF! Stupid $50K SSR! A $60K Corvette was the only car there I would purchase if I had the money. Makes me sick. I talked to the sales manager there, and we talked for a while. He says the Camaro is coming back, but I still don't believe it. All this talk, and really it isn't anything but talk. I told him my next new car would not be a GM car, and I own 4 GM cars. My next car belongs to my wife, and she wants a Chrysler 300. And if the Camaro isn't out when I am ready to get a new car, I will look at Ford or Dodge. I am not buying another FWD car to have fun in. Really sad. |

The lease on my Magnum RT will be up in December 07- perfect timing to trade it in on a new Challenger. As cool as the Magnum is, the Challenger tops it by far.

Yeah I think the cars are getting heavier but ya know there's a few minor things you can do to lighten up a car. 3600lbs. is probably the weight limit for me as well. Wow, if the Challenger came out at 4100 lbs I may have to rethink that. It does look killer though. I think they can find ways to lighten it up. You just really have to wait to make decisions until you see an actual production car. I'm hoping to be in the market for a new car here in another year and the I'm looking hard at all three of them. So I'll be patient and see. It'll be tough since I'm an already dyed in the wool Mustang guy but I'm not opposed to buying a Challenger or a Camaro.

It's neat, but you can count on it being either very limited production like the prowler, or they'll sell a bunch of them the first 2 years and kill it after the 3rd.
There's no possible way to "update" (redesign) that car after it goes stale, and the only way to keep it as something people will want to buy is if it has some sort of appeal like limited production. |
I like the mirrors, is there a way to get a set like those? Something that can be painted?

I think that car is awesome! More proof that Mopar designers and engineers are real car guys. Chevrolet/GM seem to be lead by focus-groups made up of old ladies. I like how Mopar just goes out on a limb and does it. Chevy tries to respond and fails. They couldn't come up with an innovative idea to save their lives (and I consider myself a Chevy guy)

You got that right ! I love my old camaro but just PURCHASED a new magnum hemi.....I heard 2009 for a new camaro,but just a rumor....mustang gt is best bang for the buck so far, or maybe a wrx subaru(rice rocket)

As for the heft, they make it clear that Chrysler is basing the Challenger on a shortened 300/Magnum chassis 110" wheelbase. Which hopefully means that the car will be viable as a mass produced vehicle--no limited production. To further that point, the article states that Chrysler NEEDS more production capacity for 300/Magnums. Adding the Challenger is a good way to secure the future of that additional factory. I'll look past a little heft if it helps heat up the pony car segment. Besides small, impractical pony cars are part of the problem. Most people just do NOT want another cramped 4th gen Camaro.
