Does anyone know the owner of this car I want his paint code.
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys I hope you don't mind me posting this picture up here. I was hoping someone knew who this car belonged to. It is funny this is what I am trying to do with my build I imagined my car like this a while back and finally found a picture. And this person hit it right on the money with that color. I want that same exact color on my car. Hopefully you guys can give me some ideas and information to tell the guy who will paint my car the color that this might be. I think it is between a Marina Blue and Leman Blue. Tell me what you guys think. Thank you. The picture is small I am going to put an attachment and the link to where I saw it. If you make this picture your desktop background you see it much bigger and crystal clear. I tried messing with the picture but I couldn't get it bigger sorry.

Standox has a basecoat formula for Jetstream blue. Joe

Looks like corvette Nassau blue to me..
|
why is it so much money? Is jetstream the name of the company?
|
the jetstream and the corvette Nassau blue look very very similiar althought the nassau blue looks a little darker and that is what I am leaning towards. thanks for you help guys.
|
wow all three look very close I think its between the nassau blue and the altantic blue. Do you think those colors are going to be expensive?
|
I just squirted mine Marina blue and would like to know why the jetstream would cost so much. I know paint went up but why is everybody saying jetstream is so much more.

for the sake of repairs and matching i tend to recommend staying away from tri-coats and picking a color that can be easy matched and repaired.. just my $.02..

I argee with you I like simplicity, actually the Jet Stream looks more on the lighter side. I think the Nassau Blue might be the color or the Ford Atlantic blue but I dont want Ford colors on my chevy lol. I appreciate your advice. |

Paint code is WA 512Q For some reason my PPG book is calling it BLUE STREAM ? i Have a brand new ZR-1 in my shop right now and the color is JET STREAM BLUE ...
|
Go to a Dupont paint jobber and see if they sell standox, should be able to mix it in a basecoat formula. Not all jobbers can mix it if they don't have a mixing bank at the store. Joe

I didn't see it mentioned, but colors vary quite a bit from monitor to monitor so I would make sure to see it in person before committing. I'm sure you also know that the color used underneath (primer etc.) can make it look different as well.

The website the original image comes from is called www.wormol.com. It says my IP is blocked, maybe because I tried to view the image before entering the site?
Here's another Chevelle with a similar color, but looks different from different angles. http://www.webridestv.com/photos/196...evelle-35562/6 There's also a similar color common on Camaros and Corvettes called Quasar Blue that I've come across in various shades over the years. |
i dont know how much extra money the tri-color Jetstream blue actually costs...but trust me you would never be disappointed! i constantly get people asking me if its a custom paint color at all the car shows! ive never seen a pic yet that justifys the color shift in it...but if you look at the sun spots in the pic you can sorta see it a bit...a buddy has a 5th Generation Nassua Blue that is the same shade...but no where near as nice in person.

I was thumbing through the March 2010 Chevy High Performance. It looks like Tony Grzelakowski's Chevelle but after a second look I don't think it is because Tony's has blacked out window trim. Anyways . . . his is a very nice blue - Brillant Blue Pearl PPG created by Tony Grzelakowski and Don Fremd or Painter's Supply in Flint , Michigan. Hope that helps!

Not sure how other paint companys are making Jet Stream blue but Akzo Nobel (the company I work for) we have a two stage formula for it in our Sikkens line. The reason it cost so much is it is a croma flair color which means it flips and flops like dupont cromalussion. Remember the Mustang corbra?? Any way most paint companys have this technology now but we still charge out the wazoo for it, becuase it's not mainstream and probably never will be. As far as cost it's not really all that bad around $220.00 a liter which gives you alomst two liters sprayable. I didn't now other companys had this as a three stage color? Hope some of this helps.

could be a HOK color
