been on site for a bit now figure I would post some pics of my current projet.

its a 69 camaro x11 hugger orange 124vin
got it back from media blasting
lost the before pictures but this where i'm at

Im running DSE quadralink and minitubs w theyre 9" ford rear end moser axles ,wildwwood brakes 3.50 gear ratio. I also have DSE frame connectors and soild bushings not on, yet.

replaced pretty much everything on rear except trunk floor and structure

I will be running an LS6 with magna charger and t56 setup that came from a wrecked 2005 ctsv w 25k miles.

Im going pretty much custom everything as much as possible without sacrafficing the integrity of the original car.

this is my second build and first to this degree. my first is the red 64 which I have a bunch of pics on car domain. you could google frank's 64 chevelle in south gate if care to see pics of that

I had to do some adjust to minitubs after the fact , I didn't have tires when I put them in. I still have some minor adjustments on the rear but its coming together.
im plannig on doing all except for body and paint which im thinking some type of charcoal gray w black interior possible gto seats like 64 but with red baseball stitching.

ohhwell getting ahead ofmy self.

Sweet project and nice work, Frank! Be sure and post lotsa pics as you go. What was the prob w the tubs that needed adjusting and how did you tackle that? I'm finishing my tubs but dont have tires under it yet. The way I'm approaching it is to ensure I have 14 1/2" i.d. @ 10 and 2:00 and then rolling the lips. Keep going man...

bonecrrusher 10-07-2010 05:16 PM

Whats the spec on the rear tire size?

2 magnacharged LS motors.... jealous!! Hahah.

Looking great!

well the problem was I had no wheels so did not know dimension and clearance nothing like placing a tire and seeing it in there. I just followed instructions and well I just din't cut enough into the rails. so as you can see I had to cut it up again. but I inproved it by placing 1/8 metal plate on inner inside of rail and then building the out side out of one piece.
thanks

Yeah, we fit/measured 100x and then cut for clearance. We also had to put 1/8" reinforcement on the backside of the framerails. GM coulda given us a better location to start with...:willy:

Damn you BF Goodrich for not making a 325-30-19 series KDW2!!!

I love the tires - but they dont make them in my size for a Z06 wheel...

quick update little time to work on it lately but I got rear end on it just for mock up, and to verify the offset for the wheels , those on the picture belong to bmw. question for anybody in the know how dep... for the minitub how much space do I need between the inner wheel lip and the body, i'm thinking 3/4" clearance, and also how much rear end suspension travel should I expect on some hard cornering.

i'm calculating that with 5.625 back space on a 18x12 wheel will put me at 3/4" clearance on both sides considering an overall width of wheel with mounted tire to be 13.250" (would help if I had one to measure) so its just an estimate.
I will most likely do a 6" back space just to be safe.

a bit of progress
i finally got to roll the quarters, welded some odds and ends.cut molded and welded quarter panels to get the gap to trunk to spec. did a bit of sanding with Da. I bought some used fikse FM10 18x12 w 5.750" back space , appararently these are old school type because they dont make barrels or lips for them anymore, rears will work but fronts are 18x10 w 7.750" back space which I need 6.125". ohwell
also fabricated and welded both trunk pieces where the roll cage will atach too.

well at least I was able to set it on the floor and get an idea of how its going to look.

will post more pic having technical difficulties w down load

Nice build!

Photobucket (it's free) is very easy to use!

After you upload and save a photo to your photobucket account just move the mouse to the top of the photo and click "share". Then scroll down to "post to website" and click on it. Up will come a "Share to website" window. Click on the "Get link code" tab. There are seven boxes to chose from. Check off either the "Full size" or "clickable thumbnail" box. Copy the contents of the box (highlight and use control/c). Then save. Go back to your post on Lat-g and paste what you copied into your post. You're done. The picture will appear in your post.

frankv11 01-24-2011 08:41 AM

ill get some close ups today and post them, toobad this wheels are not going to work for me . I bought them on ebay rear will work but fronts have a 7.750" offsett and fikse or thatcher are not able to help, these apparantely are the old style and they dont make lips or barrels. so I'm stuck with them

I guess I can use them until im done with build

5" diesel truck exhaust

started playing around with an extra, damaged front lower valance and well got it into my head that I was going to use the round bezell for my rear exhaust. so I cut a whole on the rear panel and molded as much as possible went to a local diesel truck shop and got a foot of 5" exhaust. once I was happy with the way it was fitting the contour of the car ( both inside and out side) got to welding and grinding. and well 1 week later that how it came out.
also finally got another bumper that was not as twisted as the other and tucked in both sides to 1/8 from quarter all around (top and bottom) except for rear

it looks bad ass in person
