Hi,
Here is another Swedish member. 31 years old and living outside Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. The car (hmm  ) is a Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 from 1971. I found it in a barn one year ago were it has been since 1985. I am going to build a pro-touring/road race/street race car of it. The car already has a name; Warbird  I hope that I will be able to update you on the project soon. |
Welcome aboard, Warbird. Good luck with your build.

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome.
No big updates yet except that I bought an engine last weekend. It is a Chevy 408" Big block. Nothing special really. I will use this engine until I have the time and money to restore the original 400" Pontiac engine. |
Welcome to the site Warbird -

I started to work on the car this weekend. The front suspension is going to be stock for now, upgraded with poly bushings, new springs and shocks (perhaps coil-overs), C5 brakes .
I am currently working on the rear end. A gen.4 axle with 4-link and coil-overs. The wheels are OZ-racing (Futura Split) with 315/35 BFG. |
Welcome! That's sounds like a cool project you have going.

A teaser... :unibrow:
Note the Wunderbaum... |
I love it, keep up the work. I have a 73 camaro so I will probably be stealing any cool ideas you have for your car considering that they are so much the same.

Some updates...
Almost all rust has been taken care of, replaced with new sheet metal. The roll cage is almost in there. I had to add some longer bars to the rear of the cage because I wanted the roll cage to go all the way to the back of the car. The door bars and the bars to the front, that will mount to the subframe are still left to do. I am also going to weld in bars to support the rear coil-overs. I will use as long dampers as possible. Now the car is resting outside the garage in the snow... :unibrow: |
Keep up the good work
Very nice Warbird, looks like your making progress, its nice to see something a little different on the boards!!! I have a good friend that is a Pontiac nut, keep up the good work!
