'69 Camaro Front Clip

I am selling the old front clip from my Camaro. It is all original from the car back in '69. Hood, header panel, and valance are cherry. The fenders have rolled lips, and 1" diameter rust corrosion at rear lower area at bottom and one of them has a 1" tear at lip bit they are fixable. The hood is an original cowl hood. Make me a reasonable offer if you are interested.

No longer needed because I went to an aluminum front clip.

I'd like to get $1000

I'm gonna guess shouldn't be more than $50.

I'm guessing you haven't shipped any large items in a while. ;) With the dimensional pricing you'll be surprised what it'll cost.

I went Greyhound on my last pair of fenders and it was still a lot more than that, and they were far cheaper than UPS or FedEx.

Gandalf 11-21-2010 02:01 PM

I have to agree with Jody - I tried to ship a pair of 69 fenders within CA and it was going to run about $300. Was definitely cheaper to drive up and get them but equally could not justify the time it would take. I'd hate to guess shipping cost going across country.

Wow, thanks for letting me know.

In that case I dont think Doom is going to be interested in paying $500.

Gandalf, if you are still interested I imagine I should be headed toward Buttonwillow Racepark within the next few months.

Let me know.

How much filler is in these? Never seen a crack like that in a fender. Any pics of the back of the fenders?

There is no filler in fenders, not sure why crack got so bad but I imagine years of road racing didn't help. The inner lips were cut then rolled. I will take pics of back of fenders but the only rust on these fenders is shown in photos.

I am starting to get more interest in my other parts and I will post pic's tomorrow but in case anyone is wondering, I no longer need these because I went to an aluminum front clip. Fenders are fixable and I would have reused them if I were to keep the steel front clip.

Track Junky 11-21-2010 06:29 PM

Fenders are sold!!

Thanks Greg!!

I had to ream a few of the holes to make the panels fit together but I was told that is to be expected with after market panels.

I was a little disappointed about the hood. It had a crown in the center and it sat about 3/16ths of an inch above each fender. At the time I had no time to replace it because of a tight schedule to make the Spectre341Challenge.

Other than that I am pretty happy with the end result.

If you choose to go with an aluminum front clip it is important to remember how easy it is to crease thin gauge aluminum. I have leaned on the top of the fenders while working on the engine and put slight creases at tops of fenders leaning on them.

Also, if you dont have full wheel wells small pebbles and tire marbles will hit the underneath of the fender tops and make your fender look like it has pimples on the top.

Here are some pics.

Its hard to figure exact weight savings with just front clip due to going to an aluminum block at the same time but I figure plus or minus 90 lbs. In total I took 200 lbs off the front of the car.

Total weight savings is 114.5 lbs.......

You save 43 lbs at hood
18 lbs at each fender and extension (36 lbs)
2.5 lbs at header panel
8 lbs at valance
13 lbs at deck lid
12 lbs between the two bumpers

Header, hood and valance are cherry and still available. I want these to all go together, sorry, dont have time to run around for just $100.

This is all original steel so I am not going to give it away. $800 is my price plus shipping and pay pal fees.
