69' No Name Build
I have finally begun again on this project. I started it about 10 years ago, then someone decided to relieve me of all my goodies under the hood right in front of my house. Anything unboltable was unbolted. About $2000.00 worth of engine stuff. This really set me back as I am not a billionaire. Three years ago I started to really finish my truck as i have been building and rebuilding it for 20 years. Anyways finally ripped my dream car apart for real this time and the insanity will begin. Follow along if you feel like it and I hope to continue learning stuff on here from all of you and build this car as I have always pictured it.
Here's the start: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...S/DSCN0574.jpg |
and under the hood:

Two weeks into it as of today:

All seams, holes, did the guldstrand mod remodded the upper towers to clear control arms. GM really did a piss poor job of welding this sucka. Stripped: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...est--S/090.jpg Almost done welding it up and gettin ready for paint: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...S/IMG00425.jpg |

I would have loved to see your truck....bad year to not attend the show I guess! Oh, and Welcome to the site!! |
yea the show was great, had a god time and met Chip Foose too so that was cool. You definitely missed a good one.
|
Looks like your well on your way. Truck looked real cool
|
Thanks. I am so excited about this build I can't stand it. I wish I just had all the cash I need right now but...as always just gotta be ingenious and do a little at a time. I do not want this project to take me 3.5 years like the truck did cause I wanna get in this and just blast. Stay tuned!

Trying to decide on what color I want the frame to be. Car will be black,
|
Paint the frame black. On the '69 you can see the side rails from the side of the car. You don't want to notice the frame when viewing the finished car from the side, looks awful.
|
good point for sure. I was pretty sold on black but satin, semi, gloss, metallic so many options. probably just be satin I think

updates- Im not so good about the updates on the computer, i would just rather be in the garage working. I do pretty much have the sub together with c5 vette brake stuff and some upgrades. Was working on the body until I got sidetracked during summer with my both my sons projects(fun tho), but I did get most of the floor done as well as the toe board, firewall smoothed, hydroboost mount and brake and hydraulic clutch pedal stuff almost done. Will be replacing taillight panel shortly, body will be tubbed and put into primer by the end of the year. Still gotta get my engine and trans. Anyone got a good one for sale?

Nice build! keep the updates coming! That front subframe is looking sweet!
|
Found it
Dam those car s could be twins, firewalls look pretty close, sub frame looks good spent some time on that. What motor are you going with. Blue trucks sweet to. I better get to work or your gonna pass me.
|
subframe looks real good, thats alot of hard work,gm does suck at the welding.
|
Thanks guys. Looking at a built 5.3 or 6.0. I want reliable decent mileage although not a top priority on the mileage. Just futurizing this bad boy so it will last and be reliable and fun. Wanna drive the doors off this thing. Yes that subframe did take a bit. Finished up the reared today and got the trunk gaps and all looking good. Got a couple little patches to do then on to the tubs. Should be fun. Wish me luck
|
Slow but steady, just a little update. Got one rear tub done, having a busy year so working a little slow on her, but it's coming. Hope for cabin bodywork complete by summers end.

Oh yeah I guess I never posted I also found me a little go power. Decided on the 5.3 built, but still reserve the right to go 6.0L if necessary.
