A little too close for comfort

So I promise my neighbor two months ago, before the OUSCI invite, that I would attend a car show that he is putting on today. I'm at the other end of the show when my wife, who is at home, calls me as says that a tree fell on the car! I had to wait for my boys to finish on the ride they were on and then sped off to see what happened. This scene awaited me.

Fortunately, there was zero damage to the car. Even the car next to me had very little evidence that anything happened. Even the people in chairs under the branch did not get hurt.

Whew that was a close one. I hope you drove it home and parked it. It'd be a shame for you to miss the OUSCI event because of mother nature.

That's exactly what I was thinking! :D

Vegas here I come!

As I looked at the scene yesterday I thought about how silly it would be to never have had any damage (rock chips don't count) during all of the track days the car has been through, but get hammered by a tree at a static car show a mile from home. Lesson? More track days!

That was close! Glad the car got away unscathed.
Have fun in Vegas.

Wow i learned along time ago going to shows neverrrrrr park near trees seen Went to a local show and a car parked under a tree for "shade" the car left looking like it was hit a million times with a small hammer wind storm came through and blew these big nuts out of the tree bad news bears for sure.

I have to ask this, only becuase I know I'd be a nut case after the call from the wife..

Did you speed walk, run, while dragging the boys by the arms back to the car?

I'm very happy for you, no damage.. I would have been crazy though thinking the worse the entire walk back..

You definitely had Lady Luck on your side that day.

Reminds me of a story though. Every year at work we have a judged carshow, for just employees cars(usually between 40 and 60 cars). One year there was a guy and his wife with a doll in their convertible's backseat with a "cute" (as she called it) umbrella in it's hands.

It was a breezy day and I first pulled up next to them, but then decided it wouldn't be a good idea, and I expressed the same thought to them, but the wife just kind of laughed it off. About a half hour later there was a nice El Camino in that spot and a stiff breeze blew and the umbrella took off and landed on the El Camino, A FEW TIMES. It scratched the hood, one of the rear quarters and all insde the bed.

Come to find out the car just got out of the bodyshop and that was the first place the guy took his car. The wife of the other car just said to the El Camino owner, "no big deal, you didn't get any dents, just scratches, and if you just got it out then the shop must still have paint to fix it"

I wanted to kill her and it wasn't even my car

The last thing I want to do in front of my boys is freak out. I just waited until they were both done on the slide and said "Let's go." Whatever was done I couldn't change, and a few extra minutes would not matter to the car, but it would effect my boys perceptions. My wife, and her mom and dad visiting at the house, took it a lot harder.

Those little dolls are creepy.

That's the last time I park next to you Hollywood.
