New Camaro revealed.
|
I never thought that I would say this but... I would buy the new challenger rather than the new camaro after seeing it. Geeze the rear end of the camaro looks ugly. That my opinoin. But we all know that the final product changes a little from the concept.
I hope the chevy gods dont punish me! The interior looks HOT though |
I'll take one please, in red! I like it alot. Looks alot better then the leaked photos! Lets see what production version looks like though. Remember the mustang concept vs. production!
Thanks for the info! Tim |
HHHHMMMMmmmm....I kinda like it. I really like to see more photos of though. The video moves too fast to really study the details long enough.
My first impression seeing the front 3/4 view - boxy. I like it from the cowl back but man there's a lot of frontal area. In the video when you see it at a rear 3/4 view it looks pretty sweet overall. I think it has pretty nice proportions and I like most of the details. Things i like about it: - Wheels - Proportions - Greenhouse - Everything about the rear of the car except the tail lights - Hood - Lower front grill Things that I hope will improve for production: - The grill. Overall I think it is definately the right styling direction but it's just too edge styling, it could use just a little curve to it. I think Cadillac CTS when I see the front grill and bumper - not a direct copy or comparison but just the overall shapes and styling of the grill openings and fender shapes. - The lower rocker triangular recess - again I think this is a nice detail but too edgy - even just a little curve to it might add a little tension or movement to the shape. Extrapolate it more. - Tail lights - these could grow on me. I kinda like 'em but don't? It'd be sweet if maybe those trapazoidal shapes were sunk into or surrounded by a blacked out rear graphic? - The front fenders - The top leading edge of the fender from the front fascia and into the door just seems reall flat, almost no curve to it which I think really adds to the front boxy look. I think it just makes the front look even more boxy than the rear end. Even the 3rd gen Camaros had more sexy curved front fenders and that car is kinda boxy but it has enough curve. Again, I'm not knocking the car, just stating my observations and opinions and offering up my 2 cents as a professional designer. I think if there was a little less frontal area and just a little curvature added to the front fenders and lower rocker recesses i think it'd be drop dead hot! If I had to make a call right now - I think I'd still have to put my money on the new Mustang and here's why... Camaro - Until I see an actual production car I can't decide. If the front stays as boxy as it does - I don't care if it's got 500 hp. and costs $10K less than a Mustang - my money is on the Stang. Challenger - Looks pretty cool, maybe the sides are a little slab sided but overall it's wicked. The down side is that it's rumored to be 4100 lbs. and the base Hemi is $35,000??!!! I'd take a 2007 Shelby GT500 first for the same dough and more power. Mustang - There's maybe one or two little nit pick things about it but overall I think they really nailed the styling on the car especially the front end - The Shelby is just pure sex on wheels I think and I can get a GT for $25,000! I can afford it and hop it up cheap. The design is well balanced, clean and just looks good. Take a GT and put a nice set of 19s on it, drop it, a chin, a ducktail spoiler, and a supercharger - I'm there! I still would like to wait and see them all in production versions together before I cast my vote. My 2 cents, John |
I think they dropped the ball on the nose.....looks out of place.
I do like the filler neck/door on it I am also sure a production version would have large side mirrors on it. |
I like it
|
Since it's still in "Concept" form the production version will differ. Just like the Mustang concept it looked like a 2 seater, but the production versio was longer and lost some of the edge.
I think it's great to see GM stepping into the "New Muscle" battle. I can't wait to see where this takes us!!! No Matter how you look at it we again have the Charger, Cuda, and Camaro. That's HUGE! |
I like the Mustang and the Challenger better. I think they could of done a better job on the front end and the rear tail lights. Also the exhaust tips are a bit to ricer for me.
I do however love the rear quarter scopes like the 1969 camaro. |

I just couldn't resist!!! I needed to see this car with Z/28 stripes on it! Hopefully this is OK to post, if not I apologize and can remove the attachment. I figured it'd be ok.
I also tried out the stripes with a couple different body colors and blacked out the grill recess. John |
John
I like yours better than theirs. :_paranoid  |
Awesome! I love it but I think all these retro cars look weird in a manner.. They have so high body panels which make the car look fat and then they make a low roof to compensate, which makes no sense to me. And then they also make a slim grill on that huge front end like the Challenger and that looks weird. But I must say… I rather drive the Camaro than Mustang or Challenger. I really hope they make this car!

Im not seeing it on the Road And Track site??Maybe GM made them pull it??? :wow: :wow:

They took it all down including the video. I'm guessing someone got in some trouble.
The video really shows how cool the car is. I think it's awesome, the lines remind me a bit of the new stuff from Cadillac which I love. Build THAT car GM! :) |
Camaro
I think it looks great! Lets see what the final productin car looks like.
|
I dig it. A lot.

Have they attached a year to it? Like 2008? 2009? Or is this just concept car?
Tim |
That pic is awesome!

At a event for the new car tonight at the GM Heritage Center one of the head guys said the car was still a concept and they are listening for opinions. If you send emails they will be read.
|
Charley...where do they send the e-mails, do you have an address? When these threads have run their course I was thinking of printing them out and handing them to Tom Peters or just sending him a lotus notes with links to them.
|
Don;t care for it.
|
Awesome; looks mean.... it can't get here soon enough
|
I like it  . Though I am not sure about the tail lights, hate the exaggerated exhaust, and I would get rid of the hood scoop, I still want one  .
I would do mine up like a Yenko. Except with a 6L based 427 and Wheel Vintiques 18" ralley rims (maybe, depends on how they would look). Black w/ red stripes (to match my '56 :D if I ever get it done). http://home.grics.net/~redean/Yenko2.jpg Rough P/S David |
Are there any photos of the back? People keep mentioning it, but I dunno what the heck they are talking about.
I dig the whole front end. The mirrors gotta go though. |

My opinion: GM is right on with this car. I still would like to see the rear tail panel of the car. From the side and front, the car is perfect. I will be first in line to order one if this car goes into production.
My question is: I wonder what kind of engine/tranny options will be available? |
I would buy one in a heart beat. I wonder what the price is going to be like.
|
like to no the $$$$ it will coust .
rick k :) |
Hard to say what it will cost, but you know it will HAVE to be in line with the Mustang. They can't price themselves out of the market.
To me, the BIG question is.... can I get it with an LS7? |

Price will be in line with Mustang and Challanger.
Drivetrain? Probably LS3, 6 speed gearbox. |
I hear you, but it would be cool if they did a very limited run - like a ZL1.
It doesn't matter to me I guess, there's no way I could afford that anyways. |
I like it...if they make them at a good price I would be in line to get one.
The only thing I dont like is that the grille is too pointed and doesnt match the front edge of hood. I think it would flow better with the grille at the same angle as the front edge of hood. |

Couldn't some clever dealer order an COPO with LS7? Or it might be LS8 when it comes out. Jan |
