Retiring from Active Duty

Well gang, after 25 years of active duty in the Air Force I've applied for and been approved for retirement effective 1 Apr 2011!

Many of you heard of my father's unexpected passing on the 17th of last month... our plan is to retire from the military quickly (within a month or so) and get up to northwest Ohio to care for my mother who is now up there all alone.

It's been a great ride and I've loved every minute of it! No regrets! :patriot:

Congrats on the decision Ty! I can't believe its been almost a year for me since I retired. Believe me, there will be times you will miss it but there is ALOT I don't miss  If you would have asked me a year ago if I was going to be living in Chile right now I would have told you that you were crazy. BTW, its nice to get that monthly check  On a side note, start doing your VA stuff now and be as proactive as you can to get all of the paperwork done. I was in the same boat (dropped papers at 128 days out) and everything comes really fast. If you have any questions, just PM me. Best of luck!

Way to go Ty. I know it was probably a hard decision but you did it for the right reason's. Just remember how your 25 yrs have flown, well retirement will do the same. My almost 2 yrs of retirement have flown by and I'm loving it (although I'm currently in Iraq) LOL. Again Congrad's....
