tmadden's Project Lazarus 3D rendering progress thread
I just wanted to thank Tony for his patience and for giving me the opportunity to render his car. I wanted to make a thread for him to critique his render and show case my art work.
This is just a simple 3D both interior and exterior... So Tony please let me know what you want to change and what to add. ::Exterior:: http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/r...87/rearend.jpg http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/r...terior2_69.jpg http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/r...xterior_69.jpg ::Interior:: http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/r...rior3_69-1.jpg http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/r...terior2_69.jpg http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/r...nterior_69.jpg As you see, I'm still trying to pin point the Lamborghini yellow. However I only have pictures as a reference, if anyone is kind enough to send me a high quality picture of the Lamborghini yellow I would highly appreciate it. |
Awesome!
What program do you use for your rendering? |
Hey thank you Bryce!
I'm using 3ds max 2010. |
Bad Azz!!! I PM'd you

She's on the ground, metaphorically speaking of course...

Is that a vector based program or is it free hand sketch?
I use CATIA (really good surfacing CAD program) for my daily job. I would really like to know how you are rendering that car! Do you take measurments off the car? |
Great job. Looks awesome.
|
Hey Bryce,
It's a 3D modeling program where you simply take a blue print of a car and model it. Here's what I'm talking about... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuvgrfMxtb4 My tires however are my own design and are made with a simple cylinder. |
dash in progress
http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/r...41887/dse4.jpg also shows using a reference pic |
I'm getting my internet service changed tomorrow, so I'll be out of the internet for two days. So Tony call me if you have any ideas for the interior. I'll be at work tomorrow from 7am-noon, after that I'll be on this project till then.

i like the 3d view and looks good so far
|
|
That's really cool!
|
Okay so I thought brushed aluminum would look pretty cool on your car, especially on the moldings.
Just a sample.. Don't mind the red paint nor the bumper I just wanted to get your opinion on the look and feel of the brushed aluminum effect for your moldings. http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/r...7/aluminum.jpg |
Placing the stripe,
I'm excited to see that your car is coming together very nicely!! Getting an idea of the stripe... http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/r...ished_rear.jpg Home stretch on the exterior, still trying to get that lamborghini yellow correct... I'm also going to do all of your pin stripe colors for you and you can choose which one you like. |
Paint is DONE
So thank you to the guys at Lawrence Hall in Abilene, TX giving me the time to look at the Yellow Corvettes and taking reference pictures. With that said Paint is done!!
As promised, Tony, all of your pinstripe choices were rendered for you to choose from. Tony, sorry school started recently and I had two trig quizzes to study for.
Just an update... Wheel is being finished it's coming along and I'll be updating the stripe. http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/r...7/wheel2un.jpg http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/r...7/wheel3un.jpg |
Wheel is almost done just to add a few more polygons such as lugnuts, tire pressure valve and center cap.
http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/r...7/wheel4un.jpg Forgot how to calculate polygons on 3Ds Max but its up there in the 100k+. |
Very cool man!

Update:
Exterior render is finished!!! However since the file is so large, it's actually kicking me out before I can even finish my render. So now I'm calling in favors to help finish out my render to be viewed by the public. Just a verbal preview the car is sitting outside morning and afternoon glare. I'm hoping my computer will allow a virtual walk around and interior preview, but by the way it's heading it may seems like it might have to wait until I get a new computer. I'm so excited to present this render to you all! Tony I hope to meet up with you soon and bounce some interior ideas with you. |
I'm determined to show this thing off. I had to get rid of the chrome effect, paint on the wheel, lighting, the "floor" and had to replace the rotor with a horribly low poly picture map (bitmap.)
This is what I could get out of it. Hopefully it will allow me to render this in its correct material. http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/r...aro69sneek.jpg |
Sorry it's taking so long but my whimpy 3gb laptop can't handle the massive 88.3MB file. Unfortunately I'm going to have to dumb it down quite a bit to make everything fit.

better pic of the stripe.
I didn't want to loose the thickness, but I did mold the stripe to follow the body line.. I might redo it, I kinda mess the front of the stripe by a little... http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/r...amarorend3.jpg |
Amazing!! I can't wait.
