1963 impala

12 years after being imprisoned in storage building # 12 I am headed in a new direction with an old project. Was once headed toward the NMCA. Now I'm headed in the pro touring direction. We'll see what happens.

Yeah I know, we work quick....I am replying via cell phone from the paint booth. Trying to get it squirted and buffed before tomorrow morning. Think you could have my interior done by lunch tomorrow?

Morrison GT IFS, 3 link rear based on stock set up. Nine inch was modified for drag racing but I am going with a watts link now. Already has coil overs and adjustability built in (it was so slick last century:lol: ) . IE two piece drive shaft. I trying to con Blake from Speedtech into making some bars for the rear, but I am going to get the front where I want it first. 14 inch wilwoods on the front. Back will most likely match the front. Undecided on 18's, 19's or staggered 18's and 19's. Minitub the rear, and a custom fuel tank. Fuel injected 409 of some sort for power, and an RS 600 from Keisler. Keeping most of the cage and the rest of the interior is a mystery. Just want to get it rolling. Here are a couple of rear susupension shots.

61ragtop 02-06-2011 11:21 PM

Sounds cool!!!! I am calling Blake tomorrow about sway bars for my '61. I would personally go 19 up front and 20 in the rear, I have 18 and 20 stagger and find the 18's too small for the larger wheel well on the fulsize cars. Just a personal opinion though I thinkit will look killer regardless of wheel size. Keep it up and I will be following this build. Keep the updates and specs comin!!!!!

Some sort of through exhaust. Might need to remake the trans crossmember. Trim the center box, and two piece IE driveshaft. havent got there yet, but will post when I do.

good question. the wheels in the pics are my dad's off his chevelle. i am torn between new gen splitters, and schott venoms with the tri bar spinners. also, i like the intro retros. that's kind of where i am at right now.

the new ss's are about to roll out. you might look into one of those. i talked with a keisler dude at charlotte. he said that it takes so much longer to build the rs 600 and that they wait goes on. unfortunately that rs went into a 65 gto. i am no where ready for a trans yet. i am pondering a new tci 6spd auto. with the paddle shifters. really dont know yet.

do your self a favor don't weld the trunk pan in yet. until you finish the tubs.they are alot easier to do when you are not laying on your belly!
you can just stand up and do them with the trunk floor removed. Just trying to make your job easier.
