1970 Firebird Formula 505ci EFI

I thought I would introduce a new project we have in the shop. It belongs to a local board member Kevin Jenski (4mul8ion). Kevin started this car 8 years ago and it has been sittin idle for the last 5 years. We are going to install the engine/trans wiring and get the car in a running driving state for him.
Plans include:
Engine is a 505ci Poncho motor built by Butler Performance
Fast™ EZ EFI
T56 Magnum
Mcleod RST Clutch
Quicktime Bellhousing
Rebuilt 12 Bolt posi rear has 4:10 and we are going to install 3:55 gears
AAW classic update harness
Classic Auto Air A/C
I'll get Kevin on here to post up some previous build photos but here are some pics from today.

Yeah really lookin forward to this project. Its not a first gen :D its gonna be a cool project as it will have all the goodies but not just the normal LS power
The motor is all aluminum and weighs less than 500lbs and makes north of 600hp.

Anthony that is Dave's 69 in the background. He coming out monday to help with the install on the stainless Magnaflow exhaust. There's a build thread on it. Its called Project Grey Matter

lhkustoms 03-26-2011 11:12 PM

Got the March serpentine system in and installed. Got the valves adjusted and got the motor installed along with the hydraulic slave mounted. with the fabricated valve covers the d/s hits the factory booster so were gonna need to go with a 8" dual booster for clearance.

Chris I have a booth here at the shop although this car was painted in MI where Kevin used to live. You are pretty close and are welcome to come by anytime. Just give me a call

awr68 03-27-2011 09:53 PM

Looking good! Have you thought about coating the valve covers black to help balance out the colors of the motor? I am trying to figure this out myself.

Still need to make my way over there! Perhaps I will bring Bryce and the boys can hang out?

Tony..... Funny you mention that. Kevin and I were talking on Saturday about this and we are going to anodize the v/c and paint the logo body color. we are also going to black ano the fuel rails, dizzy clamp and water neck also. The headers he ordered from tribal tubes are supposed to be a black thermal coating as well if they ever show up :willy: . we are also going to black chrome the bumpers, tail lights and trim so the motor will have no shiny on the entire car.

Feel free to come out anytime and it would be cool to bring bryce out as well. Dave Oh has brought Luke out a few times. Always fun.

awr68 03-27-2011 10:19 PM

Very cool! That will look great!

Ok time for the long overdue update!
we've got the entire inside of the body coated in lizard skin insulation and sound control. Began wiring in the new AAW classic update wiring harness and the FAST EZ EFI harness. I removed a few lbs of wire on the efi harness since each wire is about 3 ft too long. Pulled the harness apart shortened it up and cleaned up the routing and added a braided loom since i cant stand "split loom"
Kevin decided to swap out his QA1 coilovers and global west a arms for Pro Touring F body Tubular arms and Ridetech SA coilovers. We are also going to be mini tubing the car and adding a Ridetech Air Bar in the rear. http://i370.photobucket.com/albums/o...s/1a21d152.jpg

What size engine are you using?

Ya really am liking the spoiler ideas as well. The engine is a Butler all aluminum 505ci poncho. complete engine weighs in at about 515lbs or so. Motor should put out a very conservative 620hp. Its got a fairly mild cam for engine vacuum since Kevin wants to run vacuum assisted brakes.

Ron in SoCal 08-10-2011 08:37 PM

Welcome back Luke! Where you been man?

I like the black and polish vlave covers :) Seriously, car's lookin great...

4mul8ion 08-10-2011 08:55 PM

I think Jason nailed the look I was after in the first draft on the front spoiler. :hail:

Well Ron.... Ive been dealing with the "D" word if ya know what I mean so just been trying to put my nose to the grindstone and just been swamped in the shop. Got a lot of different projects going on right now. Just not all P-T builds. Just finished a complete overhaul on a 91 5.0 Stang including new crate motor and all the trimmings and complete paint job and also been doin paint/bodywork on a 61 Lincoln ragtop. its getting a shiny coat glasurit black sprayed on it friday.

Ya I need to run the other valve cover over to my anodizer for some black. There was an imperfection that stood out when I originally had it anodized so they stripped it and I have it fixed but now just need to drop it off.

coolwelder62 08-11-2011 06:07 AM

I am really liking the shade of red. Nice work.

4mul8ion 10-01-2011 02:51 PM

Quick update.

This is the look we're going for.

http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...nskiFinal4.jpg

Minitubs have arrived and the Black Widows are on order. We've started working on shortening the rear spoilers.

Kevin

lhkustoms 11-24-2011 12:42 PM

Ok so I thought I would post a long overdue update..... DSE minitubs have been installed and then we cleaned and degreased the underside of the car and applied Raptor liner on the sheetmetal on the underside of the cr and then we painted the subframe, sub connectors, and rear rails satin black.

I see your in a good mood today  .

I like the Idea of a Try-Y header it brings me back to my first project a Toyota with at 22 R motor and the Try-Y header was the very first header I ever installed.

just being a little sense of mental

onelapduster 12-16-2011 04:30 AM

How much Raptor liner did you use on the underside?
