^^ This.

And is there any truth to the rumor there's gonna be a RTTC 2.1 this summer? :omg:

Vegas69 02-28-2011 10:23 PM

Finch won the whole deal. Everybody has stepped up their game substantially over the past year. Cars and drivers. I ended up 6th on the road course but not sure quite yet where I placed over all. I'll be updating my thread with photos and bull puckey as soon as I get some sleep. I'm still toast...

Flash68 02-28-2011 10:40 PM

Tony -- I think all the stuff is over on that "other site" :D

Seriously tho, what an event. Most of us are waiting for our official times still... I only know my best time on the autoX, and even that didn't get relayed to the command center apparently. I imagine by tmrw or so the full numbers will get posted on PT.

Missed ya there Tony! Come to the one in August. :unibrow:

It was great seeing all of you.. sorry I was so busy driving, fixing and working that I didn't get to chat much...

Missed you guys too....would have loved to been there!
I just went to PT and did a little digging...looks like Blake's Nova did very well! I personally am happy to see that! Bill said in the thread over there that he will be posting a final results spread sheet in a day or two.

Huge contracts to Brian for the overall win!

The Speedtech Nova was cookin man. Great car and Jay can frickin drive. Hung out with him and Blake several times. Great dudes.

Hopefully we will see some results by tonight.

I am working on the speadsheets now and will get them to Scott once I have them done.
Great weekend guys, and stay tuned, August 19,20 may be a date you need to mark down.....

Just one note here for now. A lot of us here know and pick on Greg Weld here at LG. I want to make a public Thank You to Greg for the relentless work he and his crew did for the RTTCII event. He drove down on his dime, donated to the event, and then spent two full days running the autocross scoring. I think he got about 5 laps around the autocross for his trouble. By mistake, he was even charged for lunch one day????? Refund coming Greg! It is guys like Greg and Chuck Felton that make it possible for us to do these events, hands down could not do it without them. When you are thanking people for events, remember it is the Greg Welds of the world that make it really happen..... Thanks Greg!

awr68 03-01-2011 05:12 PM

Good to hear Bill!
I know one thing for sure....Greg LOVES these events and has a great time 'working' them!

It's been fun to see this PT/G-machine hobby go from concept, to many projects (some still are! :_paranoid ), to now having driving events year round to actually USE the cars for what they were built to do! Without guys like Bill making it happen...well it basically just wouldn't! Thanks Bill and all you other guys that make events like this truely happen and go on without a hitch! Every year there are more dates to put on the calender...how cool is that! :lateral:

Yep, Jay can sure drive! I believe he finished 5th overall @ Optima. The Nova was a new car then and he had never driven that track before...that really says alot about his skills and the car!!

Bill -- you name the dates and I think most will find a way to make it happen. Great event you guys all put on. Very professional and organized.

And Greg Weld is an unsung hero and his effort, as well as the other volunteers, cannot be appreciated enough. Thanks to Greg and all the other helpers that made it as smooth as it was.

Love ya buddy!

I love these events and the PEOPLE that make it all happen - The sponsors, The guys that put it all on, and the guys that compete! It's a great community we have....

Forget the lunch Bill.... the food was well worth the cost of entry!

You guys that DID NOT come down --- YOU are missing something! Doctor Renners taco party -- The cruising -- the stops at Spectre and TCI -- the disco ball at the Mexican restaurant at the hotel -- the carnage of Yancys' Camaro -- the smokin' hot laps Nathan put up in Bad Penny.... Guys -- you can't buy that kind of stuff for any amount of money - and those of you that aren't there, need to start to be there, or at one of these other well run events! Period.

XOXO
Still in Napa (not the blue parts store either)....

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Greg and Bill you really did a great job and cannot be thanked enough! This was blast and like Greg said if you have not been to one of these events you need to at least come out and check it out, you will not be disappointed!

A special thanks need to go out to Greg for letting my 22 year old brother room with him. After Greg saw 3 of us squeezing into one room he let Craig be his room mate!

I have to say that i event was like a well oiled machine! I could not believe how much time we got on the track, especially sunday! To be able to do all the events twice in one day was amazing! to have that many people together and everything go as smooth as it did is no small feat, my hemet is off to everyone who helped put this event on!

on a side note i am STOKED on how well our "Bad Idea" 55 chevy did! To come out and run with the big boys (and girl) on its first real outing was great!

Thanks again every one,
Kyle

96z28ss 03-01-2011 07:48 PM

No question Greg is one of a kind and we need more of them in this world.
Being in Oregon and seeing gray skies for a couple months now. I was happy as a pig in SH!T. The sun was out both days( a bit cold) but I got a nice sunburn and got my fill of vitamin D.

Greg even let me drive the Barak Obama mercedes around the autocross a couple times. Not many guys would let anyone do that. Brian Finch ran a few laps with the mercedes and put down some impressive times.

This was the second RTTC I have been to and volunteered at. These events are a blast and recommend if you have a car get out there and use it. I can't wait for my car to get finished, so I can come to this event and participate.

Yep, Greg was working his ass off out there. Working that timer and recording everyone's times all day long for 2 straight days is mind-numbing work. Thow in dealing with all the hiccups in the system and I would've been drinking Goo Gone by the end of the day. Greg, thank you so much. You da man.

Sounds like there's a bit of a discrepency. There was a post this evening to 'the other website' that's a big apology from the event organizers to Ryan Matthews and DSE for not announcing and awarding him the title for the road course in the vendor class with his 1:02 time.

Chris!!

Dude are you kidding?? YOU --- Capital letters --- YOU are the only guy out there that when we needed a corner man --- YOU stepped up and said -- "let me run one more lap and I'll park and go work the corner". Which is EXACTLY what you did. The good news is --- we found someone and you got to go back and run the pig snot out of your beautiful car. Dude! YOU ARE THE MAN!

I have to tell you ---- I was just about ready for some of those cherry bombs or apple gas or whatever it's called....  But I had a friggin' blast and it was really great to get to know everyone a little better and see everyone having a great time with their "babies".

Well, this explains your odd post in my other thread.

Blake, I don't have the results of the event in my hands.. I was going off memory.. I didn't mean to insult you, your very skilled driver, your increadibly bitchen Nova, your native country of Canada or anything else.. please calm down a bit. The fact is that Ryan ran the fastest time of the day.. that is ALL I WAS TALKING ABOUT.. sorry I worded it badly.

Man.. you would think this was NASCAR or something.. I guess the whole "lets' just go have fun" part is out the door. lol

As we continue to do these events, we strive to improve on not making mistakes..that is why there are three of us runing this event, to keep everything in check and we still screwed up. I personally am so sorry as that Ryan ran his butt off in the 69 to be the best and was overlooked. DSE ,one of our major sponsor, brought their rig cross country just for this event and turned back around..can you imagine the fuel cost..and we left them out. We realized this after all was said and done and it was too late. Guys please accept our apology and thank you for your participation....It is always a pleasure to see vendors bringing parts they sell and showing us what our cars could be like and how much abuse they can stand...Kyle, Stacy and their crew prove that week after week and without their support ..you guys would not have got to do what you did this weekend.

A honest mistake but it sounds like you guy's were close:thumbsup:

Vegas69 03-01-2011 11:08 PM

It's still a little mirky with the vendor vs. the regular guy. I don't personally have a problem running against everybody, joes and pros. I do think it's safe to say that the cars entered by the manufacturers have an advantage of engineering and testing. Eventually I can see this evolving into two distinct classes. Then you have the cars driven by folks that aren't owners. Cars that are lighter, more powerful, etc. I'm just happy to have the events to compete in on a regular basis. I look at the DSE, Speedtech, Pozzi's, Finch, as the king of the hill. I'm working to close the gap as a driver and finding that car balance. It's fun to have something to work towards.

DSE ran the vendor class and had the fastest time overall. My understanding was they were the only cars in the vendor class.

Speedtech was in the regular class and did run the fastest time in the non vendor class and did win the trophy.

It sounds like they were within .2! You guys don't think this competition is getting stiff?:unibrow:

awr68 03-01-2011 11:10 PM

It's pretty simple really....

Here's the deal, Ryan in the DSE '69 ran the fastest lap time on the road course, but was in the Vendor Class. Jay in the Speedtech Nova ran the fastest lap time in the Registered Competitors Class....therefore won the road course part of the event.

*Todd beat me to it!* :)

What this guy said! lol

Hey, in the end we got to see a bunch of badass car being beat on and guys trying to get better at driving them. I know seeking crazy good drivers like the DSE crew, Speedtech driver, Finch, the Pozzi's and such do what do makes me want to be better. Now I just need to find the time to his the track more.

But while winning is always great, having fun with our cars is what this always be ultimatly about.

Stuart Adams 03-02-2011 05:11 AM

I agree. very odd.
any company that owns a car, or someone who has pro driver drive should be in vendor/exhibition class.

tellyv 03-02-2011 07:32 AM

What would detail a pro driver? There's some major talent driving some of these cars!

The sucky part of the event was that since the cars were split into three groups we just saw the same 20ish cars all day. I would have like to see you're peel around the track some (or even more hear it)

Promise to have an actual action shot of your car this year ;)

I wish the event would end, in terms of timing, a bit earlier so everyone can relax, give rides or let each other try our cars..

BTW Greg.. it was great seeing you and thanks for working hard all day so the rest of us could play. The volunteers put in what, 16 hours and were paid with a t-shirt (although a very nice one).. You guys, and the paying sponsors made this whole gig possible.

Thanks Steve, I appreciate that. :) Yep, the grouping thing is definitely the sucky part of the event. I agree with you 100 percent. I missed out on seeing so many cars, but I did get to see Bad Penny and some of the vendor cars absolutely smoking the road course which was just rediculous. The video you posted gives me the shakes just watching it. Congrats to you and Penny on another fine performance.

I agree 100% like Bill said we didn't drive 1500miles for a 5$ trophy. on the other hand after all the fun and back slapping. the winning part is also important. if it wasn't no one would beat the S%&t out of their pride and joy.

Just know that me mentioning Ryan's time was in no way a sllight against your Nova's performance.. it kicked major azz..

To be honest I only knew you ran a 1:03something.. I had Ryans exact time because I was shooting pics at the timing station. I still don't have times.

Anyways, I have some great shots of your car I can get you.. So lets just start over by me saying congrats on winning the "comp" road course catagory.. :)

Awsome, what a great way to find out what's up with it.... I can only drive it so far on my limited experience.... I will take you up on that.

Thanks bro... and everyone knows your car kicks ass. No debate. Great products you offer and what better way to show case them....

I just like poken fun at all the big league dudes with great cars and even some with great drivers....

I guess I just want in on the club ;)
