The car looks great. I love the way you did the hood. What have you got planned to do next? More sanding??

G-Body 03-09-2011 10:02 PM

Yep engine should be back soon getting it all buttoned up and going to get it in and test fire it get wiring and fuel system in and make sure it all works before body comes off the frame most of the body work is completed except blocking and sanding the inner fender wells and bottom of hood, and it can go to the paint shop and the frame to get blasted and it will be smoothed up with the rear end and will be painted body color aswell.

Also picked up a few last things to get it fired up.

Alot of nice stuff right there. Those gauges are sweet. Is that alternator solid to the chassis? how does it work?

Thanks yeh its solid im running solid mounts and a polly tranny mount. so no give plus running an electric fuel pump it cleared up the bottom right side of the block and you can only get a left side low mount alt. bracket but i want to run my power steering pump on the left down low, soo i made my own mount on the right to keep all the assec. way low on the block to clean up the engine and the front of it!

Toggle panel switches are hidden by visor when flipped up you cant even see them! and quad gauge is pretty much where the mirror would be so out of the way but yet easy to see and it will be molded into the header panel above visors.

Sweet looking! I don't remember if I read it did you make the headers or did someone else make them? Thats going to look great in there.

HRBS 03-29-2011 10:55 AM

Lookin good.
I like the color !

64pontiac 03-30-2011 11:17 AM

I second the opinion on the color! Goes well with the polished gooodies! So close....yet so far!!!! Must be killing you!

Looking great

BBPanel 03-30-2011 12:58 PM

Great looking project. How long have you had the yellow top and is it holding up? -Bob

G-Body 04-01-2011 03:59 PM

Thanks guys!
I just bought the yellow top!
Actually i bought a red top the same way i bought this one if you check with local parts stores that sell them after optimas are on the shelf a year they have to pull them they dont want any battery on the shelf longer than that and they sell them dirt cheap i bought this new yellow top for $45 bucks.
Been hering alot of **** about these batterys on line ecs from racers that are not running alternators etc. if you dont mind the weight not a better battery out there i was looking into an XS lightweight but couldnt pass up the deal. but yeh no problems with optimas here.

And no bought these headers like to have a stepped set built in the future.

Northeast Rod Run 04-02-2011 03:04 PM

That alternator idea is definitely different. I wonder how many people will even notice it, at first glance, once it's all put together

Its funny you mentioned that theres alot of lil things i built into the car that you really wouldnt know unless you had the exact same car!
But subtle is always good in my book!

HRBS 04-02-2011 05:02 PM

The alternator bracket is pretty trick. But I hope you are running solid motor mounts or you will be throwing belts like a kid at a carnival.

G-Body 04-02-2011 10:20 PM

Yeh you can see in an earlier post i mention the solid motor mounts and a polly tranny.

Also flush mounted the hinges in the hood mounts.
