Sheet metal replacement question about pricing.

I want to know what I would be looking at cost wise to replace all sheet metal around the cab of my car. For example... ( roof, A pillars, trunk pan, quarter panels). Every time I ask a shop it seems I can never get a straight answer. I would atleast like to get an around about answer so I know how much I am going to need to save.

depends on your location, quality of work, etc. Sorry stop in and ask a local shop what their shop rate is and then look at the quality of work. I went with a guy that is $10 more per hr bc his work is amazing

I live in college station, TX so there's not a whole lot of shops in the area. In order for me to take a car somewhere for an estimate would be a huge pain.if anyone has done simliar work and wouldn't mind giving me an idea of what it cost them that would be awesome.

I would ask forum sponser Mike @ Musclerodz. He not too far and is as reputable as they get here...

I just gave a guy a quote for new full 1/4's,full floor pan, trunk pan, outer wheel well's on a 1969 camaro. The total labor bill was $2,500.00(customer to supply parts).Roof and A pillar's might add about $1,000.00 to the mix. This should give you some kind idea.

hey man, I'm in the same boat as you. I did find two shops that specialize in camaros in the area that might be able to help:

The first one in Dallas advised me that it would be about 6 months before they take on customer cars:

Camaro concepts in Houston advsied they could do all the sheetmetal, but they don't paint:

Let me know how you end up making out, I still haven't decided on a shop.

Just recently purchased all the metal from Elitecustombody! Got a great deal and the shipping was super fast now all I have to do is get it all installed.

Good luck... went throught the same thing on my 69.

Remember, the labor cost to remove and replace is one thing... the cost to do all the finish body work and prep for paint is another story / bill.

You need to shop around and get referals to reputable shops... One piece of advice - check references. Getting a great price is one thing... having your baby stuck in paint jail for a couple years is another.

Do your homework and everything will work out just fine. There are way to many stories on here of people who didnt and have regreted it. You dont want to be a member of that club.

Yeah just doing it all as the money comes in. I just need to get the sheet metal done so I can start on the rest of the car and to make sure everythings water tight. It blows me away how much paint prep and everthing cost, that will be a little later down the road.
