How about an event in the Pacific North West?

WallyFM3 04-21-2011 06:10 PM

Pacific Northwest is on our radar.

I have heard from at least one person that at $400 and Motorstate Challenge at just over $100, the price is not very attractive for the relatively small amount of track time.

Jeff, Unfortunately, track economics are not equally divided! Autobahn is a premier country club facility here in the Midwest and it's not open to the general public. We have at least 6 fifteen minute sessions scheduled for Saturday (that's at least 1.5 hours of track time!) and we have open autocross sessions scheduled for Sunday. We always strive to maximize track time - remember last year's Faceoff and Midwest Musclecar Challenge? We had participants sitting in the pits at both events because they were exhausted.

Additionally, we're hosting a karting enduro at this event which has proven to be some of the most fun a guy can have with his clothes on.

We truly feel that everyone will get their money's worth and more at the Heidts performance Car Challenge.

I'm already entered - have been for a while. Come on out and play, guys! Just think. In addition to what Wally and Jimi said, you also get the pleasure of watching me totally embarrass myself! Should be fun!

Flash68 04-22-2011 10:22 AM

Wish it was closer. Sounds like a great event. What's a couple hundred extra bucks after what most of us have sunk into our car AND continue to spend on maintenance and upgrades?

Jimi/Wally - anything on the radar for Norcal? We have a couple of great tracks right here in Laguna Seca and Infineon. :unibrow:

WallyFM3 04-22-2011 10:32 AM

Norcal is a possibility, you do have some great tracks out there

MaxHarvard 04-22-2011 11:45 AM

Would love to see some more stuff in the midwest.

BIR is always available :D

Hey Max, BIR is a great track! Since you're here in the midwest (technically the upper midwest) will you be joining us at Autobahn?

I'd love to, but I think the car will be down for the year with some upgrades and projects.

Plus the next weekend will be Car Craft and it looks like I'll be working that show again for Doug, which means I have to get prepared for the big weekend ahead! :)

Very cool tracks, we will keep these in mind. Our task at hand right now is to find out who is coming out to Autobahn in July as we are making plans for food, t-shirts, etc.

Just repeating what had been said to me. I will most likely be there. Too close not to.

Finch 04-22-2011 07:03 PM

Biggest thing holding me back is that you guys scheduled this the same time as Mark Bowlers Day at the strip event, which is one of my favorite autocrosses.

It is on my list of things to try once....I also hear limo's really hold the turns.

SLO_Z28 04-23-2011 03:51 PM

Id be game for an event in Sears Point! Thats my favorite track of all time!

bret 04-23-2011 08:46 PM

I'll be there with either my 69 Mustang or the 48 Hour Camaro...whichever one is fastest [or at least still running] by then. I love running tracks I've never run before...can't wait!

Also...the reason the Motorstate event is only $100 is that they are subsidizing the rest of the cost internally. They deserve a huge round of applause for that. Best deal of the summer!
$400 is well in line for 2 days of nicely organized track time anywhere in the country.

Very cool. Sounds like a great event at Motorstate.

And $400 for 2 days seems very reasonable. Not everyone gets how much $ and effort it takes to put these things together.

Bottom line -- it's great so many events are happening all over the country so pretty much anyone can find one within reasonable distance of their home.
