Help me with some logo design opinions for the new Ironworks hauler.

Alright guys, I need some design opinions. Which do you like best for the side of the truck new truck?

The flat one

The arched one.

The oval one

Flash68 05-02-2011 06:46 PM

The middle one for sure. Just stands out more and looks much cleaner to me. The black shading behind the letters makes it really pop.

Kick ass truck!

ironworks 05-02-2011 06:49 PM

I feel you on the black background. I more looking for lay out at this point then actual design.

Thanks for the input

Flash68 05-02-2011 06:52 PM

Gotcha. Still love the middle one. Has the best spacing and overall fitment in between the flames the way you have it. IMO of course.

That's why I asked. This mess is giving me a headache.

MODO Innovations 05-02-2011 07:01 PM

I will add to your headache...I think the flat one would be it, if it had the black in it like the arched one. :unibrow:

I put it on here for opinions to guide me decision. But I right there with you on the black back ground and flat lay out.

I second this :) . I think flat looks good. One heck of a hauler too

Vegas69 05-02-2011 07:58 PM

Don't you have a logo already?

GregWeld 05-02-2011 08:25 PM

I changed my mind! I like that one.... no wait! I like the other one.... Well maybe that one! No hold it a minute... Let's go back to that one....

So the point is -- you can't go wrong with any of them because they're all good. Close your eyes and toss a dart.

  :woot:

Tuske427 05-02-2011 08:26 PM

Agreed on the "flat" one with the addition of the black drop shadow.

novanutcase 05-02-2011 08:37 PM

Arched...

Will you consider using different lettering? I was thinking about something with smooth lettering that will flow from the I all the way to the S in Ironworks.

Tom.A 05-02-2011 09:29 PM

I like #2. The black behind the letters is better imo

Big-Head 05-02-2011 09:42 PM

The middle one.

T-Type 05-02-2011 11:30 PM

i'd go with the last one just cause the middle one reminds me too much of the "lowrider" logo on their rig. i know it's different font but that curve instantly made me think of them.

XcYZ 05-03-2011 03:52 AM

I like the middle one because the text is larger... easier to read when you meet/pass it on the Interstate.

ccracin 05-03-2011 05:10 AM

I like the black back ground. I think the reason I'm not feeling the arch is it needs pulled forward like the flat to get it off the door. To recap, Arched, Black back ground, pulled forward off door. So, there you go. Anything else we can help with? :unibrow:

jy211 05-03-2011 05:19 AM

oval one

elitecustombody 05-03-2011 07:04 AM

I like the second one

Ricochet 05-03-2011 07:53 AM

For me...#2, for the same reason most have mention. Pops more with the black ground.

GregWeld 05-03-2011 08:02 AM

I changed my mind.... I like the flat one - no oval... it's easier to read and looks like it belongs where it's placed.

bentfab 05-03-2011 08:23 AM

2nd one !

pacificustoms 05-03-2011 08:30 AM

The placement of the flat one looks best to me with the rig hooked up, which it probably will be a majority of the time. I think add the black background to the flat one and you have a winner! The arched one look ok if you single out the tractor, but together, just doesn't do it for me. And I don't care for the fact it overlaps onto the door, might start looking bad over time with opening and closing the door.

I'm beginning to think my wife hacked your account Greg, you keep changing you mind....

ironworks 05-03-2011 08:48 AM

All right, so how about this one? I guess it's too late for a last minute 4th entry.

I am thinking that just a bit bigger overall would be perfect.

That is the best. Only thing would be if you could make the "speed and kustom" a bit bigger or bolder.

I agree. Increasing the size of that line will help balance the whole logo.

Good point. Gotta be consistent with branding. (Not that I'm trying to make your head spin even more on this decision :willy: )

ironworks 05-03-2011 10:18 AM

I just felt the old logo was dated and did not have the appeal on everything to carry the brand from hats to shorts to the side of truck. Think the paint scheme I was 2nd guessing will actually help carry the brand or feel of the old logo in to the next 10 years. 10 years ago I had a tattoo artist draw up the old logo and I never had any idea I would get to the point we have. So I have been thinking for a while of updating my logo and getting my marketing / branding act together.

Good call. Plus then in 10 years you can do a bunch of retro swag as a throwback to your roots. :D

Here's a quick photo chop on making the second line bigger. I think it will work better when it's prined on smaller things also. (like Baby GAP tees for Greg)

you a baller now !
G's up..... ho's down

oh... 2nd one.

waynieZ 05-03-2011 12:35 PM

I like this last one best . Its in the perfect place and high lighted with the black behind the straight letters. It looks more rugged!

Ricochet 05-03-2011 12:40 PM

Ok, change my vote to the new #4!

Gotta disagree. Vertical balance/contrast/spacing is just as important as horizontal.

Also keep in mind that if you trademarked your name (if you have not already) it would be just "Ironworks" as that is the important and dominant word. "Speed and Kustom" are supporting words and are not even used when discussing or referencing your company out in the marketplace. People say and write "Ironworks" only 99% of the time when referring to your company.

This is very true. If you are going a different direction or just updating your branding, then change EVERYTHING at once best you can.

I must say the black hat I just got from you, Rodger, looks sweet with your old logo on it!

We will just have 2 styles to sell later on. Or have the collectors edition. :D

I said make it bigger or bolder. I didn't say stretch it and loose the porportions.

The new #4 is perfect in my book!

Now we're talkin' !

That's spot on -- and you're right, make it just a tad bit larger....

So this one is perfect (for now) - until I change my mind again.

Al Moreno 05-03-2011 04:32 PM

I like # 5 :willy:

nic 05-03-2011 05:06 PM

My vote is #4
