1955 Ford Customline Project
Hi guys,
I am new to the forum and i decided to post up my project. I am building a 1955 ford 2dr customline. We bought the car from someone who started a full restoration on it and decided not to finish it after painting everything. Were going for a very subtle look on the outside with 18x8 fronts and 20x10 rears otherwise stock appearing. Killer engine compartment and interior and suspension! Take a look at the rendering, http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...8/5b830a47.jpg |
That's awesome! I love the 55 & 56 Customlines. Can't wait to see the progress on this one. Can you give any details at all? Color? Engine? Wheel and tire size?

Art Morrison chassis
5.0 coyote motor w/Getrag 6 speed EDIT** Now using Tremec TKO-600 18x8 and 20x10 schott wheels Color is ppg black already but we are going to strip it and debadge the trunk, hood and a few other custom touches |
Sounds like a cool project keep us posted
|
Agreed, not many out there compared to the tri-fives.
Great car to put a Coyote 5.0 in. Those are good looking shoeboxes. |

Waiting
Since the art morrison chassis will take 4 weeks to get here we are prepping for the chassis to come in.
We have the interior all gutted. when we got the car some interior pieces were thrown together to make the car look better in the pictures and look better selling it. the stock carpet was blue and they painted it black along with the door panels. all the garnish moldings had 1 or 2 screws holding them in and a few other things. Anyways we had mostly everything out but the seat. We decided to take the seat out yesterday and it came out pretty good and we vaccumed all of the old foam out of the car that fell out of the seat. next we raised the car up on the lift and we took all of the body bolts out of the car except the front 2 that we loosened up and can take them out quick when we get the chassis. Right now we are working on test fitting all of the door eyebrows and stuff because we recieved the wrong ones and want to make sure that these are going to fit. We also have a 1956 ford dash that we are working on and smoothing out. |

no updates this weekend. had to go to a funeral and had some other things to do.

Wheels
had nice conversation with Dave Wagner at Schott wheels today! hopefully next week i will be ordering my set of Schott GT wheels so they should show up at the same time as the chassis and i can get everthing mocked up correctly then and things will start rollin!
As far as tires go i think i am going with the BFG G-Force T/A KDW2. what do you guys think? good road maners and decent autocrossing? http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...8/43a41a12.jpg |
Nice choice of wheels

I like the wheels alot and i am going with a Protouring style car but with some street rod influenced parts yet like the hillborn stack injection and stuff so the wheels will fit in good! The next 55 after this one will have some ccw's or forgelines and be strictly protouring style. |
^ nothing wrong w street rod style unless you're building a track only car!

Update
Got some work done this weekend. The body is ready to come off the chassis, all we have to do is pull the 2 front bolts that are finger tight. We are working on finishing up up the quater windows and the door windows since we have to wait a little for the chassis. We fixed up the the original window chanels and put them in all 4 windows but the anti rattlers were gone so we had to buy new ones from dennis carpenter but they didnt make them for the 2dr post only the crown vic and the hard top, so we had to make them ourself.
http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...update1010.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...update1008.jpg Thunderbird emergency brake installed http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...update1016.jpg newport engineering windshield wiper motor test fitted http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...update1018.jpg Factory wheel tubs cut in half and spare tire holder cut out so when we recieve the art morrison chassis we can make final measurements on cutting out the rest of the truck floor. we will have to modify the truck brackets with the bigger tubs but shouldnt be too much work. http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...update1002.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...update1004.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...update1006.jpg Good Floors http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...update1012.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...update1014.jpg Anti rattlers installed. http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...update1020.jpg heres our dash. The gauge pod panel will be layed out for our new gauges and we we cut some more card board templates with the idea of turning it into some engine turned aluminum pieces. I am most likely going to just go ahead and smooth out the radio, ashtray, and switch holes except for the lights, key and wipers so they will be easy to acess instead of in the console. i will be leaving the glove box to because it is still nice to put things in. http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...update1021.jpg wheels were also ordered and will show up about the same time as the chassis which works out perfect  |
