Project Passionately Pink Camaro

1 Attachment(s)
Just as things are starting to bloom in Louisiana, local family is proposing the task of designing and constructing a breast cancer tribute car out of their 1972 Chevrolet Camaro for the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The project vehicle has been a family owned vehicle since the late 70′s and is the perfect way to bring attention to the cause. The Team has chosen the unique task of turning an iconic American muscle car into a more refined and environmentally conscious hot rod, but retains all the raw styling that this 70′s muscle car exudes. Our plans are to totally redo the suspension adding a fully adjustable performance Air Lift kit capable of high speeds and cornering like it’s hugging the highway. The Roadwire interior has multi tone fine black leather and saddle perforated alcantara surface along with the OEM slate and onyx black leather. The heated, comfortable seating will keep the passengers guessing that they are riding in a high end luxury sedan yet the 500hp LSx package will remind them ever so tastefully that this vehicle can truly “Race for a Cure”.

The exterior has been restyled by adding an extractor hood, mesh grille, shaved door handles and tinted windows. Finally the entire car will be hand sprayed in BASF’s Cyber Gray Metallic and accented with their Pearl Hot Pink. Finally it will be wet sanded and polished to a fine high luster using 3M refinishing products and tools.

Let’s talk horsepower! The folks at Victory Racing Engines have built their 408 cubic inch sportsman engine package topped with a Magnacharger supercharger for a little go to this show car . It will be coupled to a Finish Line 4l80e transmission, housing a Yank 3200 stall converter. Passionately Pink will be connecting those 500 ponies to the ground threw 20″ USW Forged “Crossover” wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes rubber.

The sound stage is set for a 8 speaker, 1000w system by Kicker. It is made up of their RS 6.5" components, 10" CVR sub woofers and two DX amplifiers. All the sound held captive by Design Engineering Boom Mat that has been laid throughout the entire vehicle

cool idea and cause. and the rendering looks pretty good i like how that wheels only have the pink as a accent color help to keep it from looking chezzy.
BUT and a big BUT i dont think all the hyped up word play is necessary for a lateral-g build thread....;)

A thrash as well with SEMA being a quick few months away :wow:

PPinkCamaro 05-21-2011 09:11 AM

The trash has officially begun....we have UPS and Fedex deliveries coming everyday with awesome new toys. With only 5 months for this build time is something we can not waste.

I completely disagree.
The "wordplay" was very well written and certainly brought attention to both the detail and the cause  (too many words yet? )

Seriously, if you can pull it off, it'll be great. I've subscribed and will watch closely.
As a member here who has had several close family members and friends stricken by breast cancer, I thank you for your efforts:cheers:

I know this will start a crap storm, but what about painting the whole damned car a cool shade of pink, not the pepto bismol pink, but one of the bright, "hot pink" colors, to bring attention to the cause, and then do the accents in black:thumbsup: ??

can't wait to see how this one comes out.
Again,

Thanks:thumbsup:

john royal 05-21-2011 04:51 PM

I like the rendering as it is. I've seen plunty of pink cars with accents and they do nothing for me. This has perfect balance of color throughout the car.

"read closely" not necessary for a LATERAL-G BUILD THREAD...
its got nothing to do with the length of the post or the detailed description (if that was the case i'd have greg welds post on ignore!)

but to answer your question YES, from you that is...

I've already "read closely."
So what's "not necessary?"
Heck, most of the build threads start out with as much or more that this.
Maybe I misunderstood your meaning?
Please explain.

Where you hanging out to see that many pink cars?
Seriously though, I like the scheme as well.
It was just a thought to help accentuate and promote the purpose of the car.

john royal 05-21-2011 06:54 PM

I started out with imports ten years ago. Girls wanna build hot pink cars. Some are ok but others are tasteless

Digi-tails arrived today.

awr68 05-25-2011 11:06 AM

Great cause! I too have had family members deal with breast cancer...thanks for doing this!

Just a thought, if you ever plan on tracking the car you will need door handles.

ProTour72 05-25-2011 10:15 PM

Maybe the C6 style handle? That would be trick if it can be made to fit.

PPinkCamaro 05-31-2011 07:13 PM

Car is off to media blasting, and the UPS guy is working overtime. Received a steering column from Ididit, seat covers from Roadwire, gas tank from Rick's Stainless, air conditioning from Classic Auto Air, and door panels from Marques Design. So happy to see all these parts, but man there is a lot of work in the near future.

We at Team Passionately Pink Camaro would like to thank Joe and the good folks at BMR Suspension. They have stepped up in a huge way by not only sending us their torque arm suspension kit, a-arms and sway bars but offering up a $500.00 donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation when and if we compete in the Optima Challenge.:

This is a great example of a large company giving back to the community:thumbsup: .

BMR Tech 06-22-2011 02:43 PM

We are definitely pleased to be a part of this build and thankful for Team Passionately Pink Camaro choosing BMR as their suspension of choice. With so many builds taking place each year it can be difficult choosing which ones to support. This build has great direction and a worthy cause. We are anxiously watching the car take shape and look forward to seeing it at the 2011 Sema Show.

Putting the Human back in Humanity

With the current trend of “everyone for themselves” we have been fortunate enough to find many amazing companies that are will to put others first. We have partnered up with companies that aren’t worried about who else is on board the project and who might be a conflict of interest, but more about the greater good of the project. Without the large group of generous companies below the Passionately Pink Camaro built would not be a reality, and we would like to take a moment to thank all of you.
