What do ya think of Madagascar Orange....
 

...for a '69 Camaro? It's new on 2012 Astin Martins.

The BOS men are kickin' butt on my car and soon I'll have to decide what color to paint it. Originally I thought I'd go with Botanical Green that Jaguar uses. But, I saw it again this weekend and there is just too much metallic flake in it.

Hey Bryan - I'm gonna go against the grain here (8-1-2 poll votes at this time). I love the orange and copper trends on our cars but I do think some with more of a brownish tint lose the 'pop'. Penny nailed it, and that other copper/orange first gen in AZ is beautiful.

Yes, they are beautiful cars. I have to wipe my drool off Steve's car every time I visit the shop. I wanna be like Steve I just don't wanna be Steve. Maybe he'll pop in here and give his one cent worth. :)

Thanks. I may still go with the Botanical it's just the amount of metallic in it has really increased since last year. The paint codes are the same for 2010 and 2011. John checked. Oh well. It's a win win situation. :yes:

I'm not feeling it either. It just seems to exotic and european for muscle.

You need to put some sort of stripe on it. Maybe a gunmetal color or even the same color but flat?

I'm not sure at this point. The color flops quiet a bit and hockey stripes along that bodyline might make things too busy. At least that's what Jon says to be aware of. Anytime Jon speaks it's E.F. Hutton time with me. :)

I'm sure Jon will do a sprayout on a test panel with some stripe options. As you rightly point out, gunmetal might be a good option. :thumbsup: The tailpanel's going to be painted "black" if there is no stripe. It would be painted gunmetal if that ends up stripe color.

Whatever color you choose - just be sure to do it all flat because Jon LOVES flat finish paint jobs LOL!

If you like that color you should look at Atomic orange on 2008+ vettes. Its almost identical. Has the same gold pearl in it.

Thanks for the input John. I've never seen Madagascar in person. Just thought it looked very nice from net pictures. PPG is not forking over the formulation just yet and my car will be shot week after next. Oh well.

I've seen Atomic Orange in person but I like Bad Penny's Prowler Orange better. What do think of AO compared to Prowler?

However, I think I may be able to score on Valencia Orange seen on 2011 BMW I series. :woot: It's a BASF paint. The pictures don't do it justice.

Heres my old C6 in Atomic orange. You can see its almost the same as the aston color. Prowler orange is actually more of a copper orange. Check out Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic also on 2006 corvettes if you like the cooper hued oranges. I like them both.

BMW's Valencia Orange: :yes:

There's red to it and it flops to yellow/goldish depending on the light.

It looks much more like the top photo of post #17 and not at all like the bottom photo post #17 .

The first photo above is a low light picture after colorsanding. The second photo is before colorsanding in bright sun. Pardon the picture quality. My photography skills suck. :mad:

I'm very happy with it. Unique and very nice imho. Guys at the shop seem to like it, too. I'll see if I can put up a full sun picture of my car next to Bad Penny. That'll be a good reference.
