New guy from N.Y.
5 Attachment(s)
Hi guys, my name is David Farrell and i'm from Leicester N.Y.( pronounced lester!!??)
I'm just getting ready to start my next project and it is a Vennom Nova from Promax . The # 16 on my user name is from the cars body and chassis #16. At this moment I am not sure what power plant is going into the car, originally I purchased a 396/325hp big block for it, we deburred the block and heads and sent it to the speed shop basically just to put it back close to stock. Rick from the speed shop said it was a virgin motor and suggested not to go crazy with it,so i took his word for it and i kept it simple. I like horsepower so the 396 will probablly go on a stand and i'm looking into a 572 crate motor , but i want to go EFI. The last two cars i had had automatics so I want to go with a Tremec 5 speed , just for something different. The car will support a strange center section with 3.50gr. Colors for the car will be one of the following; a) Black b) Black on top with HOK lime time green below the belt line c) HOK Tangelo orange on top with Silver under the belt line. Interior will be in a light cream leather. Windows will also be smoked. Gauges will be from Auto-Meter NV gauges. This is really the best site out there, there seems to be loads of knowledge here so i will probablly lean on you guys for tech support. I am open to any suggestions on my build (i.e. colors powerplant combos...) I posted a few pics of the car also. The blue 62 Ford Fairlane was my previous car that i had sold to buy the Nova , it had a 500hp 351W Roller motor in it C6 4200 stall rev man body. I am very proud of the car also so I thought I would share it with you guys. It was in Car Craft twice and on the cover of last Oct. Summit catalog. Will put more pics up as soon as i get rolling.Oh bodywork will be done by my good freinds Randy & Floyd Scott@ Scott Bros. Customs. They are the ones who turned me on to this site. Dave |
Let me be the first to officially welcome you to Lateral-g, Dave. Nice car!

Thanks guys, i'ts my pleasure to be on board! Also brakes by Baer on all corners. if anyone can tell me what to do so you guys can enlarge the pics let me know. I croped them under thumbnails .do I bump it up to web size?
Thanks Dave |
Give it a try, Dave.
The size limit for uploading attachments is around 138 kb, and that usually ends up being about 500x375 depending on pic quality. If you have any problems, you can send them to me and I'll resize them for you. |

Bruce- Travis is going to have one sweet ride, the craftmanship on the car looksgreat!! Says the car is being built to sell!?! Looks like it should be a keeper!
Bill-I bumped the pics up to 25%, anything higer and it would'nt except them.If your capable of making larger let me know and I will forward them to you,Thanks for your help. Kurt-Thanks,The wife and I have some good freinds in Deerfield,we were up there this past summer, nice area!! Dave  |
Dave, thanks for posting pics of your project, it looks killer! A 572 would be wicked. Can't wait to see it all come together.
As for your ideas on colors, I instantly thought of Ryan's project: http://www.sedeuced.net/renderings/ryan8.jpg |
Welcome. Where are you more specifically? I'm near New Paltz, NY.
I was at Carlisle last summer when the Year 1 Promax pulled up. Gave me chills. I believe it,too, has a 572. |
Renditions/Carlisle
Scott-Thanks for the compliments they are all greatly appreciated, great job with the web site, the thing that I enjoy the most is not only getting to see some of the nicest rides out there, but everyone is willing to share their knowledge with each other!! That tells me that their not only a bunch of really good people but they are passionate about their rides, how cool is that  the renditions of Ryans car are killer, i was going to do the same thing with the flames but on the rear quarter only just below the quarter glass where the belt line starts to rise.
Bruce-I am 30min. south of rochester & 45min. east of Buffalo. Suny Geneseo is here. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to go to Carlisle last year. I try to make the spring and fall show every year, but I just could'nt make it happen last year.Did year one have the Nova at the summer show or was it at the GM show? How did it look in gold? I heard it was at the Syracuse show,I did not attend that show either.Your just outside of Poughkeepsie, I have a buddy that works for a company there(Taconic Maintenance).Keep in touch, see if we can hook-up @a show! welcome Dave.....project looks killer I love some of the sublte mods done to those promax cars....very nice
One question will it have a back seat?? I have seen others w/o them? |
Thanks Dave.
I can't wait to see more of your car. I'd love to build a car like that someday. |
The car has the right stance! love it oh by the way welcome

Seat
Travis-Yes I will be using a back seat in the car, Just for the reason that I have two boys ages 9 & 6. That was one of the reasons I had sold my 62 it was tubbed and it had no back seat. They both love to go with Dad when the car fires up. Plus I really like Novas! Like you said the mods are just sudtle enough to Know something different has been done. The car takes a 69 Mustang front windshield due to it has 3/4'' taken from the roof and it has been raked back. Hey,you also are going to have one really nice ride yourself! Nice work!
Thanks Kendall Dave |
It was the GM Nats and I was standing by the Year1 trailer when the car pulled up. Whew! I go to the Syracuse Nats too so maybe we'll meet up. Can't say how many times I've gone to the Vennom site to number crunch and stare. If I ever do another project ( which assumes I finish this forever project ), the ProMax is on my short list.
