Anvil Inner Fenders
Does anyone know how much wider the Anvil inner fenders are compared to the stock inner fenders?
Thanks in advance! |
Funny you should ask this..
I just got a set of ones for 67/68... there is a TON more room for the tire to travel up.. Technically they arn't much wider, but the curve seems to offer more internal room. I will post a side by side picture tomorrow that shows better.. on the set I have they weighed in at half the weight of reproduction inners. I was really happy with the fit and finish. http://i52.tinypic.com/qrdvdy.jpg |

Those look awesome!
Thanks Steve -- looking forward to the side by side shots. I hope they are a bit wider and by the looks of it they have allot more room around the outer lip, the body of my car is channeled over the frame and I had to have the front inner fenders modified hoping these are just as wide or a bit wider as I love the look of them and the weight savings is a bonus! Thanks again! |
Here you go..
You'll notice that they arn't much wider (and inch) but the there is more of a curve and the dip near the opening for the control arms is less.. so there should be more clearance. Also, the opening for the control arms is two inches wider for aftermarket control arms. The area for the tires to go "up" is quite a bit more. http://i56.tinypic.com/2ury2pt.jpg |
Steve,
Is the control arm opening large enough for C5/C6 arms? |
Thanks for these posts Steve. I was wondering about these myself and that side-by-side photo and info really helps. Awesome product by Matt's team. I saw them in person in Del Mar and they're gorgeous and seem featherlite. One question I still have is, how well does the inner fender lip on these mate with an outer fender lip? Does the outer fender lip need to be rolled any to get the 2 to match up and bolt together nicely?

The opening is wider than stock, but it will depend one where the opening falls on the control arms since they are a V shape.. In my case it looks like it will clear but we won't know for sure until they are installed. |

I do know that I won't have to worry about lending my car to Nathan and having him melt my tires again.. lot of room above the tires. |

We need a shootout where all the cars are driven by the same shoe.. that would be telling and pretty cool. |

Fitment wise, everything fits great. His fit just as well as the ones I have for my '69  Matt |
Awesome. Thanks for the update Matt. Nice seeing you in Encinitas also.

And here they are installed.. like Matt said, we had to trim a tiny bit off near the back of the upper C6 arm, but I think that has more to do with my set back arms. The glued on nuts didn't work well at all, I'm going to reccomend to Matt that they swap to clip nuts which worked great. Fitment was excellent. This weekend will be the first big test on rubbing.
